Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are good friends behind closed doors, but in public, they've been playing out a fake feud for years, and the latest installment came on Jackman's 52nd birthday.

Reynolds, 43, shared a video on Instagram stories and told Jackman that in true 2020 fashion, his birthday this year was going to be a massive fail as he'd flown, quite literally, everything in Jackman's life to where he is in Atlanta.

"Hey Hugh, I just want to wish you a happy birthday and tell you I love you. I'm down here in Atlanta so wish I could be celebrating with you"' Reynolds says in the video above.

"You may notice it's a little quiet around the house this morning, that's because I flew Deb, the kids, the dogs, your friends, and furniture here to celebrate your birthday with me."

He ended: "We're having an amazing time and we miss you."

With friends like that, who needs enemies, am I right? The video is made all the more hilarious by the fact that Reynolds manages to keep a straight face throughout.

The actors' hilarious pretend feud began a few years ago, around the time of Reynolds' leading role in the 2016 Marvel movie Deadpool, the Daily Mail reports.

Jackman explained back in April that even he couldn't remember why it began, all he knows for sure is that it began over Reynold's ex-wife Scarlett Johanson, who he was married to between 2008 and 2011.

In an interview with the Daily Beast, he said: "'It's gone back so long now… God, this is a classic sign where your feud has gone too long, where you don't even know why or how it started!"

The now 52-year-old continued: "I met him back on Wolverine, and I used to ream him because I was very close friends with Scarlett.

"Scarlett had just married Ryan, so when he came on set I was like, 'Hey, you better be on your best behavior here, pal, because I'm watching', and we started ribbing each other that way."'

However, the joking only got worse when Reynolds portrayed Deadpool and became an on-screen rival to Jackman's Wolverine.
