The 68th Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 1) were filled with star power, but one red carpet moment quickly stood out, and it wasn’t just for its fashion.
Chappell Roan, the 26-year-old singer nominated for two awards, left jaws on the floor with a bold look that went viral.
But it wasn’t just her daring gown that stole the show; it was the impact she had on the red carpet atmosphere itself, as pointed out by fellow pop star Sabrina Carpenter.
Carpenter's Comment About Roan
As the 'Espresso' superstar posed in a stunning white lace dress, she took a moment to comment on the quieter mood among the photographers on the red carpet.
“You guys are so quiet this year,” she said, glancing around. “Chappell really started a movement!” She paused briefly to pose for more pictures before quipping: “Chappell whipped you into shape!”
Many viewers reacted to the 26-year-old's witty comment, with one remarking that Carpenter is "so funny," while another reflected on the impact the 'Pink Pony Club' singer has made.
"And this is why I'll never hate Chappell for being harsh about her boundaries and how others treat her," a user penned.
The 27-year-old's relationship with the press has been more complicated in the past. Back in 2024, at the MTV Video Music Awards, Roan went viral after she had a heated exchange with a photographer, telling them to “shut the f*** up” after they allegedly made a comment she deemed rude.
The same photographer was present a month later when she walked the red carpet for the premiere of Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS tour movie.
In a clip shared online, the 'Good Luck, Babe!' musician is seen posing on the red carpet before she points directly at one photographer, approaches them, and says: “You were so disrespectful to me at the VMAs."
“You yelled at me at the VMAs. Yes, you did. I remember," she continued. "You were so rude to me. And I deserve an apology for that. You need to apologise to me."
It remains unclear whether the photographer offered a sincere apology.
At the 2026 Grammys, Roan made an unforgettable statement with a sheer maroon Mugler gown designed by Miguel Castro Freitas.
The dress, which had a transparent bodice, immediately turned heads, and while it certainly divided opinions on social media, it was one of the most talked-about fashion statements of the night.
Viral Red Carpet Moment with Jamie Foxx
Actor Jamie Foxx, also attending the event, had an awkward but endearing interaction with Roan on the red carpet.
He approached her with his daughters, Corinne Foxx and Anelise Bishop, and introduced them to the singer.
As Foxx stepped into Roan's personal space, seemingly taken aback by her outfit, he quickly apologized, saying, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry,” before backing away after introducing his younger daughter to her.
The clip, which quickly gained traction online, sparked a wide range of reactions.
Some found the interaction humorous, while others commented on the awkwardness of the timing given Roan’s revealing outfit.
One viewer wrote, “I’m sorry. Did he just introduce his kids to her with her entire a*s ties out?” while another quipped, “I wonder if it was awkward to talk to them with her tiies out.”
