Sofia Vergara shut down a male interviewer in Spain that was making fun of her accent.

The 51-year-old Modern Family actress has been promoting her forthcoming Netflix series, Griselda, in which she plays a Colombian drug cartel leader named Griselda Blanco, who became known as the "Black Widow or Cocaine Godmother," of the underworld from the 70s.

Earlier this week, Vergara appeared on the Spanish program El Hormiguero to discuss the TV series, however, she became visibly irritated by local broadcaster Pablo Motos's line of questioning.

Speaking in her language, Vergara was discussing her role as Gloria Pritchett in the hit comedy sitcom Modern Family, which aired from 2009 to 2020.

Watch the moment below:

While she was answering a question, the presenter interrupted her and asked: "How do you say Modern Family?" before imitating the Colombian beauty's accent.

Known for her quick wit, the award-winning actress responded with a deadpan expression, saying: "Did I say it wrong? Oh, because you speak better English than me? Ah," and turned away from the presenter.

Then when Motos began to speak again, she quickly shut him down as she mockingly questioned: "How many Emmy nominations do you have in the United States?"

Vergara then referenced the award show that just happened on Sunday (January 7), adding: "How many times did they nominate you at the Golden Globes?" - letting Motos know that she earned four Golden Globes and four Emmy nominations for her role in the 11-season run sitcom.

Upon seeing her clapback, many fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise her for defending herself, with one user writing: "Men and their bad misogynistic habit of trying to humiliate women, even when in this interview she is a MUCH more recognized guest than him. She swept it calmly, said 'Let's compare ourselves, let's see.'"

Another chimed in: "And that is why, among other things, Sofía Vergara is adored," while a third commented: "Don't you dare to disrespect my woman."

A fourth added: "Criticizing anyone's accent or pronunciation has a hint of unmitigated supremacism that legitimizes much of the xenophobia in English-speaking countries, but for a Spaniard to do it? The audacity."

According to News.com.au, the interviewer had gotten on Vergara's bad side earlier in the interview when he made comments about her hair and eyelashes, stating that they were fake.

"I guess it’s a lie that you are a natural blonde," Motos said, referencing a younger picture of her in which she had darker hair. "The hair you have now. Is it dyed or natural?" he questioned, to which Vergara launched back: "It’s mine. I was 20 years old, now I’m 51 years old… What do you want? You were born with your hair that color? Did you dye it?"

The presenter also claimed to have watched Vergara's upcoming TV show but referred to her character's name incorrectly.

"She really wasn’t named Griselda 'Marcos,' she was named Griselda 'Blanco,'" she clarified. "But because you saw the entire series … I knew I was going to catch you."

Griselda debuts on the streaming service on January 25.
