These are the biggest fashion trends to pop up on the Emmy's red carpet last night

The Emmy's took place on Monday night and while it's all about celebrating the best of the best in the world of television, we can't help but think of the red carpet as a whole other event in itself.

The biggest A-listers gathered at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, and all of them looked phenomenal. Collectively, a few common trends could be found in the sartorial offerings of the event, including bold pops of yellow and pink, as well as elegant white gowns. It seems more and more women are choosing to ditch the dress in favour of trousers too, and we are all for it.

Here are 6 trends we spotted on the red carpet at the 2018 Emmy's.

1. Goodbye little black dress, it's all about big white Grecian gowns now

Scarlett Johansson showed off her curves in this plunging sequined number.

Jessica Biel looked stunning in white too.

Claire Foy wore white when accepting her award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as the Queen in The Crown.

Kristen Bell chose a slinky long-sleeved white number.

Penelope Cruz pulled off a feathery white gown during the event.

2. So long, skirts: pantsuits and trousers were a big trend

Felicity Huffman posed with her husband William H Macy in a tailored suit she wore with stilettos.

Issa Rae looked fresh as anything in this light blue pantsuit complete with flowing train.

Evan Rachel Wood looked sharp in her suit-inspired outfit.

Tatiana Maslany chose a contemporary yellow and black look.

3. Speaking of which... yellow seems to be having a moment right now

Gwendoline Christie's blonde locks matched her golden gown.

Judith Light had the same idea...

Sophie Hunter also opted for the sunny shade while posing with her husband Benedict Cumberbatch.

Adina Porter wowed the red carpet with this look.

4. The boys also had some fun, with plain tuxedos barely in sight

Gaten Matarazzo mixed things up by wearing Converse with his suit and partaking in the yellow trend too.

Deon Cole dazzled in this paisley-patterned suit.

Darren Criss' also had some fun with his sheeny suit.

5. Back to the ladies: embroidered florals were all the rage

Emilia Clarke wore a lacy gown with flowers stitched over it.

Michelle Dockery also chose a floral embellishment to star on her blue frock.

Taraji P Hensen jumped on the sheer-with-embroidered-florals trend too.

Alec Baldwin's wife Hilaria also chose a floral-centric getup.

6. It's official – brights are in, because pink was as popular as yellow

This bold hot pink number worn by Tracee Ellis Ross was everything.

Yara Shahidi looked beautiful in a deep pink.

Thandie Newton looked stunning in this light pink number as she collected her award.

Even if you don't have a red carpet to attend anytime soon, I'm sure these looks will come in handy as inspiration.
