With Hollywood’s biggest night in full swing, all eyes are on several nominees who could make history before the evening is over.

Among the most closely watched categories is Best Actress, where Wicked star Cynthia Erivo is on the verge of making EGOT history if she takes home the golden statue.

Meanwhile, fellow nominee Fernanda Torres could become the first Brazilian actress to ever win the award, and Karla Sofía Gascón has the chance to break barriers as the first openly trans actor to win an Academy Award.

The Best Actor category is just as historic, with Sing Sing star Colman Domingo poised to become the first Afro-Latino to win the award. And in the Best Director race, The Substance filmmaker Coralie Fargeat could join the ranks of Kathryn Bigelow, Chloé Zhao, and Jane Campion as only the fourth woman to take home the prestigious directing prize.

Meanwhile, legendary songwriter Diane Warren, who has been nominated 16 times for Best Original Song, is hoping this will finally be the year she secures a long-overdue Oscar victory.

As the night unfolds, the Dolby Theatre is filled with excitement, anticipation, and the promise of cinematic history in the making. Whether it's a long-awaited win, a barrier-breaking achievement, or a moment that will be talked about for years to come, the 97th Academy Awards is shaping up to be an unforgettable night in Hollywood.
