Deciding who gets the title of 'sexiest man alive' is a pretty difficult one, considering how many differing opinions exist out there - but there are definitely some choices that are more popular than others.
For instance, when Blake Shelton was given the title by People Magazine in 2017, there were a lot of dissenters who had alternate picks.
One of the most common names to come up was British actor Idris Elba, best known for his lead role in detective show Luther. As it turned out, those who had him as a favourite to receive the award were in for a treat, when the actor was announced as the magazine's choice for 2018 earlier this month.
This came along with an interview with the magazine, as he graced its front cover, where he talked about the happiest moment of his life: the birth of his two children - 16-year-old daughter Isan and four-year-old son Winston.
"Being witness to the birth of my children is the biggest and best thing ever," he said. "I’m super doting, big hugs, kisses, lots of love-yous." The 46-year-old, who is the 33rd man to receive the award, was asked about what the award meant to him:
"I was like, ‘Come on, no way. Really?’
"Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.’ But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise - an ego boost for sure."
However, while people across the world are basking in his charm and good looks, there are some less-than-flattering aspects to his fame too. Elba's level of celebrity brings about a lot of attention, and that means merchandise too - both the official kind, and the knock-offs.
One particular toy modelled after the actor has caught the internet's attention, but not for the right reasons. In fact, everyone is poking fun at the £850 ($1085) toy for looking absolutely nothing like Elba at all.
"This doll is supposed to be Idris?" one user wrote. "Somebody getting fired."
It might have his suave sense of style down with its boots, blue jeans, and grey suit jacket combo, but it doesn't look a thing like the 'sexiest man alive' in body shape or in its face.
Many pointed out that if it looks like anyone, it's Romany Malco - with some even suggesting a resemblance to Aladdin villain Jafar.
Stand-up comedian Matt Rife even reached out to Malco, who was repeatedly referenced by Twitter users, to jokingly ask if it was him.
The doll, which went on sale earlier this month, was made by company Emperis, who Metro reports were low on stock (somehow). "Idris Elba is a British actor we have always admired," they told Metro. "Our doll was inspired by him leading to our artistic interpretation."
Yep, artistic interpretation is one way to put it...
