Fans are going wild online after hearing that Patrick Dempsey was crowned 2023's 'Sexiest Man Alive', with many pointing out that they would have preferred it to be someone else.
It's that time of year again - PEOPLE Magazine has finally announced their Sexiest Man Alive for 2023 and it seems as though it was someone we weren't entirely expecting, though we're not complaining.
Patrick Dempsey, best known for his iconic roles in Grey's Anatomy and Enchanted, was awarded this year's crown, and while some fans are clearly happy that the 57-year-old actor has finally been recognized for his dashing good looks as well as his charm, others are pointing out that they were expecting someone else that goes by the name of Pedro Pascal.
Even though he has been on the scene since 2011 from his role in Game of Thrones, Pascal seems to have garnered a growing fanbase in more recent times thanks to his involvement in shows such as Narcos, The Mandalorian, and The Last of Us.
And that's why fans are upset that the Chilean-American actor did not clinch the crown this year.
Taking to Twitter under the official announcement post by the outlet, social media users expressed their unhappiness at the news stating that Pascal was "robbed."
"Pedro Pascal was robbed," wrote one user.
Another shared a similar opinion writing: "He'll always be McDreamy but this year should have gone to Pedro Pascal. He was robbed."
"Was Pedro Pascal busy or something because the maths aren't mathing on this," another added, emphasizing their confusion.
A third also insinuated there was a major spelling error: "That's not how you spell Pedro pascal," they said.
Others also chimed in saying that "...Pedro Pascal definitely deserves it, this was his year!"
Despite the outcry from fans, it's definitely Dempsy's year.
Upon finding out that he was awarded the coveted prize, the 57-year-old admitted that he was "shocked."
"I was completely shocked, and then I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right? I’ve always been the bridesmaid!" he told the outlet. "I’d completely forgotten about it and never even contemplated being in this position. So my ego is good."
As for how his children were going respond, Dempsey stated that they were "just going to make fun of me and pick on me and figure out every reason why I shouldn’t be... which is good, they keep me young."
Classic.
The actor also opened up about accepting the fact that good things really do come to those who wait, including this title
"I’ve got the bumper stickers, T-shirts, posters," he joked of his new title.
When asked if he thinks he's peaked, he responded by laughing and saying: "I peaked many years ago. But I’m still here."
We can't help but stan!
Previous winners of PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive include Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Paul Rudd and last year's winner, Chris Evans.

The 57-year-old actor, best known for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy, graciously accepted the coveted title.
The reveal of this year's Sexiest Man Alive was a suspenseful affair, with Kimmel employing cutting-edge hologram technology to keep the mystery alive until the big reveal.

Kimmel questioned the timing of Dempsey's crowning, suggesting that People magazine had waited for the actor to mature like a fine wine. To which Dempsey responded with a laugh: "What took them so long is the only question I have... you get more handsome every single year."
The actor's family couldn't believe the news, initially thinking it was a joke. Dempsey recalled their reaction, saying: "They were like, 'No, seriously, who is it?' 'No, it's me.' Reality came crashing in."

Patrick Dempsey had a hilarious reaction to being awarded the title of the Sexiest Man Alive of this year by People magazine.
After winning the hearts of fans all these past years thanks to his stint as the neurosurgeon Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd in the popular Shonda Rhimes show Grey's Anatomy, it seems Dempsey still has all the star power.
The 57-year-old Hollywood hunk was now been crowned as the Sexiest Man Alive of 2023 by the magazine, and the honor was bestowed upon him during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday evening (November 7).
Watch Dempsey on Kimmel Live below:In a segment on the late-night show, the 55-year-old host used "cutting-edge hologram technology" and disguised the identity of the person on the cover of the magazine.
The audience members then did a 20-question format so they could figure out who the mystery man was. The questions revealed that the person was an actor who was older than 50 and was married with three children.
Other answers suggested that the candidate was not Timothee Chalamet, Harry Styles, or Travis Kelce.
The key question asked by one particular audience member was "Are you Dr. McDreamy?", in reference to Dempsey's iconic character on the long-running ABC series.
After being revealed as the Sexiest Man Alive, the actor-turned-racing-driver reacted to the news during a sit-down interview with Kimmel and expressed: "I'm just happy they made a decision and it was me this year."
Kimmel then quipped that it took the publication a long time to crown Dempsey, who has been in the acting industry for over three decades.
"What took them so long is the only question I have," he remarked. "You get more handsome every single year ... they waited; like uncorking a bottle of fine wine, they decided to wait until just the right year - next year you'll be a mess!"
The host then noted how the Bridget Jones's Baby star had been close to receiving the title in recent years, as he was put on two past magazine covers alongside others who had won, George Clooney and Matt Damon.
"Never give up on a dream," Dempsey responded, sharing that his family - wife Jillian, 57, and kids Talula, 21, and 16-year-old twins Sullivan and Darby - laughed when they were informed of the recognition.
"They were like, 'No, seriously, who is it?' 'No, it's me,'" he revealed.
It seems like many people on social media are thrilled to call the Enchanted actor the Sexiest Man Alive.
One user declared: "Patrick Dempsey has BEEN the sexiest man alive since he said it a beautiful day to save lives that first time in 2005."
Another person commented: "Everyone saying Patrick Dempsey is the 'wrong choice' is lying through their teeth that man is sexiest men of not only this year but maybe even the last 3 decades."
A third chimed in: "Patrick Dempsey sexiest man alive while in his Silver Fox era is something that can be so special 2 me personally."
A fourth exclaimed: "PATRICK DEMPSEY 2023 SEXIEST MAN ALIVE IS EVERYTHING TO ME!"
The actor - who stars as Italian racing driver Piero Taruffi in the upcoming Michael Mann-directed biopic Ferrari - told the publication that he is delighted about the news and wants to use his fame positively.
"I’m glad it’s happening at this point in my life. It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly, my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive," he said.
Dempsey is using his new title to credit a charity close to his heart called Dempsey Center, which he founded in honor of his late mom to support cancer patients and their loved ones.
Congratulations to Dempsey!

Pedro Pascal has shocked many fans by turning up to the Oscars red carpet with a surprising new look.
The actor - beloved for his roles in The Last Of Us, Game of Thrones and Fantastic Four: First Steps - attended tonight's ceremony in an all-white shirt (with no tie!) and a completely shaved face.
It's a very new look for Pedro, who has become well-known for his full, and very fetching, beard across his career.
This new look certainly caught the attention of fans, who have not stopped commenting on it online.
A particular fan was quite confused, saying: "Ugh, he looks so ugly now. That's definitely his clone."
Another noticed that while Pedro is going clean-shaven tonight, Best Actor nominee Leonardo DiCaprio is sporting a moustache, saying: "The way Pedro Pascal donated his moustache to Leonardo DiCaprio."
One other noticed that Wagner Moura, nominated tonight for Best Actor for his role in The Secret Agent, is donning a full-beard and said; "[He] is the new Pedro Pascal!"
No, Pedro Pascal is not nominated in any of the categories for this year's Oscars.
But he did have a particularly impressive year in 2025; headlining his first Marvel blockbuster as the new Mister Fantastic in Fantastic Four: First Steps, viewed by many as a return to form for the MCU.
He was also memorably killed off in his main role as Joel from the acclaimed video game adaption, The Last Of Us, in which he starred alongside Bella Ramsey.
Pedro will next be seen reprising his role as Mister Fantastic in the much-hyped next Avengers film, Avengers: Doomsday in which he will face off against the Fantastic Four's most famous villain, Doctor Doom, who is being portrayed by returning Marvel star Robert Downey Jr.
Will he sport a moustache in the role? We'll have to wait and see...

Pedro Pascal turned up as his sister's date at this year's Oscars - and people can't help but gush over it.
The 47-year-old Game of Thrones star took to the champagne carpet at the 95th Academy Awards alongside his sister, Javiera, and social media can't handle the combination of the iconic duo all suited and ready to go ahead of tonight's award show.
Javiera's latest movie, Argentina 1985, is nominated for Best International Film and it seems as though Pedro, being the supportive brother that he is, couldn't help but turn up to show his love for his sister.
Fans took to Twitter to compliment the pair.
"I'm so happy that he brought his sister Javiera #pedropascal," wrote one user, while another added: "Pedro Pascal being at the #Oscars to support his sister, [whose] movie is nominated, and not because he’s the hottest actor right now, makes me stan him even more."
"I hope Pedro Pascal announces best international film at the Oscars!!! Since his sister’s film, Argentina 1985, was nominated," wrote this user.
And this user described the actor as "the best bean."
"Knowing Pedro Pascal is a real one, I correctly predicted that he would bring his sister to the Oscars. Forget being a good bean, he's the best bean."
And the comments didn't stop there, people continued talking about the pair.
"Pedro Pascal being so excited on behalf of his sister is just adorable."
This Twitter user commented saying that the duo were "goals": "Pedro Pascal and his sister Javiera strutting at the #Oscars is brother and sister goals."
Pedro is known for being an incredibly supportive brother to his sisters.
Just last month, he introduced his other sister Lux to the world after she came out as transgender.
The Mandalorian alum posted a photo of Lux's cover for a Spanish-language magazine, where she opened up about her transition for the first time.
In the caption, he gave all his love to his 28-year-old sibling.
"Mi hermana, mi corazón, nuestra Lux," he wrote in his native Spanish, which translates to, "my sister, my heart, our Lux."
We can't help but stan a supportive brother.
Javiera's Argentina 1985 will be going up against All Quiet on the Western Front, Close, EO and The Quiet Girl for International Feature Film.
