Tiffany Haddish has unveiled plans to adopt older children out of foster care.

The 41-year-old actress, author, singer, and comedian, who spent her childhood growing up in foster care, revealed in a recent interview that she's been taking parenting classes to prepare for adopting kids out of the system the same way she once was.

In an interview with E! News, the Tuca & Bertie star opened up about her plans, stating:

"I’m taking parenting classes to adopt. I’m looking at five and up, really like seven.

"I want them to be able to know how to use the restroom on their own and talk. I want them to know that I put in the work and wanted them."

Haddish then stated that she didn't consider a surrogate or going through IVF to be a valid option for her, adding: "I don't want to pay nobody to carry my baby either because then I have to go through a process of giving myself injections and all that stuff."

The comic also stated that she had donated her own eggs when low on cash at the age of 21.

She recalled: "When I was 21, I was really hard up with money and gave up a bunch of eggs. So who knows? I might [have] some kids out in these streets. I doubt it though because I never got the bonus."

On Twitter, a number of social media users have praised Haddish for making the decision to prepare for fostering.

For example, one person wrote: "Tiffany Haddish is normalizing taking parenting classes AND adopting older children."

This fan then stated: "I love me some Tiffany Haddish! She just seems so genuine."

A third person commented: "Good for her. She was in foster care. It's nice to see things come full circle in her life."

Then this Twitter user gushed: "@TiffanyHaddish is my hero! #Adoption. [sic]"

Meanwhile, someone else added: "Tiffany Haddish taking parenting classes before even conceiving is so admirable. I’ve always seen value in doing that, I plan on doing the same thing."

Another fan commented: "Tiffany Haddish taking parenting class and putting in the work before adopting should be the blueprint."

Finally, someone else wrote: "Hey Tiffany! I just have to say, You are an AWESOME Woman! I too went through the foster care system, and LOVE, EVERYTHING that You are doing. [sic]"

According to her personal memoir, The Last Black Unicorn, Haddish was born in 1979 and raised in Los Angeles to Eritrean/Ethiopian Jewish parents.

Her father left her family when she was three years old and she was placed into foster care at the age of 12 after her mother, Leola, sustained serious brain damage in a car accident and developed schizophrenia.

She and her siblings were separated for three years while in foster care and were only reunited when her grandmother was finally able to care for them all.

Per People magazine, Haddish previously spoke about her experiences as a fostered child in an interview on The Carmichael Show, stating: "My sisters were placed together and my brothers were placed together but I was on my own.

"The social workers had to stop telling me where they were because I would just get on a bus and go to them. I felt responsible for them [...] My foster parents would report me missing when they got up and the police and my social worker would come get me at the school."

This same social worker would later convince Haddish to utilize her winning sense of humor and pursue a career in comedy, leading to her discovery at The Laugh Factory and subsequent success.
