Steve Irwin, also known as the Crocodile Hunter, remains a beloved figure both in his native Australia and all over the world.

His infectious enthusiasm for animals and the natural world made him a household name, and after his tragic passing, his family has lived up to Irwin's amazing legacy through their own work with animals.

Steve Irwin tragically passed away in September 2006 when he was fatally pierced by a stingray barb while filming in the Great Barrier Reef.

Bindi Irwin recently shared a wonderful tribute to her late father:

But his son, Robert, is firmly following in his father's footsteps, and just last week took to the stage to present an award at the ARIAs with an unusual accessory: a massive snake.

And now, the Irwin family have been paying their own special tributes to 16-year-old Robert, who celebrated his birthday over the weekend.

His sister, Bindi, who will soon be getting married, carried out the big sister duties by posting a hilarious picture of Robert in a duck costume, writing;

"Happy 16th Birthday to the cutest ducky I’ve ever known! Robert, one of the best parts of my life is getting to be your sister. Thank you for being such a wonderful light in my life. You’re amazing and I love you! 🐥"

Meanwhile, mom Terri posted an incredibly moving tribute to her son on Twitter, sharing what is believed to be a previously unseen image of Robert with his late father, Steve.

Terri wrote;

"Happy 16th birthday, @RobertIrwin. Your dad would be so proud of you. He has loved you since the moment you were born."

Robert recently turned up to an awards ceremony with a huge snake:

Terri also previously posted a series of pictures of her son with a colossal snake, Jenny, over the years:

Robert's sister, Bindi Irwin will soon marry her fiancé Chandler Powell, and recently took to Instagram to share a picture of them on Thanksgiving. She wrote;

"Spending Thanksgiving with Chandler’s wonderful family. Delicious food, sharing stories and enjoying time together. There is so much to be thankful for. ❤️"
