There's no doubt that the concept of beauty, and of 'sexiness', is totally subjective.

We've all got our own tastes and preferences that inform what we find 'sexy', and thus it's something of an impossibility to find someone who is universally lusted after.

This week People magazine provoked division when they declared singer-songwriter John Legend to be 'The Sexiest Man Alive' for 2019. Only 14 other people have won this coveted-title, but some people felt as though another man deserved to be declared the champion.

For instance, talk show host Wendy Williams declared that she felt as though Aquaman and Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa was a better candidate for the accolade, and even shared her feelings with her live studio audience.

Weighing in on the issue, Williams stated: "When I think about a sexy man I’m not thinking ‘John Legend.' The first thing I think of is that I weigh so much more than him and if we were walking down the street and somebody wanted to spray me with a water gun I need a man who’s gonna punch someone in the face."

John himself seemed somewhat bemused by his newfound title and took to Twitter to thank People magazine for the award. He wrote: "1995 John would be very perplexed to be following 2018 @IdrisElba as #SexiestManAlive. Hell, 2019 John is about as equally perplexed but thank you @People for finding me sexy. I'll take it. [sic]"

And Wendy Williams wasn't the only person calling for Jason Momoa to be crowned the Sexiest Man Alive. Check out some of the other social media reactions below:
