Zac Efron dumped his girlfriend after reportedly discovering her reality TV plans.

The 33-year-old actor called it quits with the 25-year-old Aussie beauty Vanessa Valladares yesterday, April 20, after she reportedly quit her job as a waitress to spend more time with him.

A source close to the High School Musical actor told Daily Mail Australia that the couple have "100 percent split" and that the last straw was the rumor that she was set to star in an upcoming Netflix reality show called Byron Baes.

"I'm sure the final nail in the coffin was him seeing the story of her being possibly on Byron Baes and the claims that he was helping her get on it," the insider said.

After Efron found out about the show, he reportedly kicked Valladares off of the set of his TV Netflix documentary series Down To Earth With Zac Efron.

According to the insider, Efron tends not to read stories about himself but was "very hurt" when a friend told him about the Byron Baes, adding: "He is an absolutely down-to-earth person, not fancy, quite humble."

Efron was also described as "a very good person who wanted a genuine, normal, down-to-earth partner", with the source adding that "there still may have been a chance."

New reality show Byron Baes will follow the everyday lives of social media influencers who live in the fashionable town of Byron Bay.

However, while it may make for interesting TV, it doesn't sound as though Efron is keen to have a partner revealing all about her personal life on national television.

The Hollywood star isn't the only one who isn't too keen on the forthcoming reality show Byron Baes. Some residents in the area are rallying together to protest against the reality show being filmed in Byron Bay due to concerns it will cause damage to the landscape and environment.

In fact, thousands of locals have reportedly signed a petition against the streaming giant's plans.

Even the town's mayor Simon Richardson has weighed in saying that the community's opposition to the move is "strong".

He told ABC "you'd be struggling to find one person" who supported it.
