Coco Austin has received backlash on social media after posting a picture of herself breasting her four-year-old daughter.

Taking to Instagram, the 40-year-old posted a snap to her three million followers show her breastfeeding her daughter Chanel, who she shares with husband Ice T.

Austin captioned the picture: "At a time when the world feels like its coming to an end … suck up as much love as you can!"

Related - New mom Ashley Graham recently shared this video of herself pumping breastmilk in the back of an Uber:

Austin continued: "I know the moms out there will appreciate this pic! Ive been getting alot of props in the breasfeeding [sic] community and get tons of emails from woman/moms appreciating me bringing light to the subject … I write a baby blog about my journey with Chanel and soon I will write about what it's like to continue boob time with a 4-year-old."

Austin then explained that the reason she is continuing to feed her daughter is for comfort reasons, writing that she gets "tons and tons of requests that want me to speak on. At this point in nursing its [sic] just for comfort and believe me the girl loves meat so its [sic] not like she isnt [sic] eating real food."

While Austin's intentions for posting the picture to her three million Instagram followers may have been good, not everyone agreed with it.

A second added: "Love you Coco but when your child is old enough to communicate with their peers and you aren't producing breast milk, it's time to pull the plug. Her coping skills on how to self comfort should be independent at this age."

Another remarked: "That is absolutely ridiculous for a 4 year old [sic] to still be breastfeeding! ?

"I see in other posts that people are saying it's your choice and all - FINE - then don't show pictures if it keep it private! I personally think women who breastfeed after a year are 'getting off' on it!

"It's sick and keep in mind with you posting pictures of it you are setting your daughter up with a lot to deal with later as far as ridicule! If you want to do it - KEEP IT PRIVATE! Although you are a narcissist si [sic] may be hard for you to do that!!"

However, as Austin intended, there were some moms who appreciated the picture.

One mom who agreed with the comfort continued breastfeeding can bring a child, wrote: "Love it! Human milk for a human child nothing's healthier not to mention the love, emotional and security aspect of it, she's beautiful [sic] good job!"

Another wrote: "Thank you for this! I breastfeed my 4 year old [sic] for the same reason and this really helped me because sometimes people shame you."

This isn't the first time that Austin's breastfeeding has caused controversy on social media. A similar storm was whipped up when she posted a different breastfeeding picture in September of last year, forcing Ice-T to defend her.
