Elliot Page's new campaign with Gucci has left the internet speechless.
Inspired by the idea of self-acceptance, Page, 36, alongside actress Julia Garner, 29, and rapper A$AP Rocky, 34, have come together to kick-start a new chapter for Gucci Guilty, in particular, the Guilty Pour Femme and Pour Homme fragrances.
Each star has undergone their own period of growth over the past few years.
As per Elle, Garner is now a Golden Globe and Emmy-winning actress who was catapulted into the spotlight in Netflix’s Inventing Anna. Page is an Oscar-nominated actor, director, and producer who forged his own path and will soon tell his story in an upcoming memoir. And Rocky is a Grammy-nominated musician, who recently became a father which opened up a new perspective in his life.
The three combined have come together for this iconic collaboration in the hopes that they can push the idea of love, acceptance, and friendship to the masses.
"They celebrate the countless iterations of love, embodying complete self-acceptance and showing how openness unleashes the purest form of expression," the brand explained in a caption dedicated to the new release on Instagram.
While both Garner and Rocky had previously starred in ads before, this was the first time Page was involved in a project of this nature.
"I had never done a campaign before, so I felt a tad shy at the beginning to be honest, but Rocky and Julia are the loveliest people, and upon meeting them, my nerves evaporated. They are big-hearted, kind, sincere, hilarious, and grounded," the 34-year-old told Elle.
In the official video which was shared across multiple social media platforms, Page can be seen interacting with both Garner and Rocky, their touches soft and intimate while sharing the space of a vintage-inspired home.
When speaking of his favorite Gucci scent, Page stated that he preferred the masculine one.
"I like the earthiness of it, the balance and the notes that give it that sensual vibe—the cedarwood, perhaps?"
Upon seeing the new campaign, fans took to the comments of Page's headshot to talk about how "handsome" the actor looked.
"So handsome," wrote one user while another agreed, referring to the Umbrella Academy star as "cute."
"What a handsome young man," a third chimed in.
And this user commended the overall ad, writing: "We love inclusivity!"
Others even compared him to other stars including Matthew Broderick, Haley Joel Osment, and Justin Bieber - all in the form of compliments, of course.
In December 2020, Page announced to the world that he was transgender after initially revealing that he was gay back in 2014.
"Transphobia is just so, so, so extreme. The hatred and the cruelty is so much more incessant," he said during an interview with Esquire last year.
However, over the past few years has taken the time to really get to know his new external self even despite the overwhelming glare of the spotlight.
"I can't overstate the biggest joy, which is really seeing yourself," Page said speaking about what he has learned since his transition.
"I know I look different to others, but to me I'm just starting to look like myself. It's indescribable, because I'm just like, there I am. And thank God. Here I am," he continued. "So the greatest joy is just being able to feel present, literally, just to be present. To go out in a group of new people and be able to engage in a way where I didn't feel this constant sensation to flee from my body, this never-ending sensation of anxiety and nervousness and wanting out.
"When I say I couldn't have ever imagined feeling that way, I mean that with every sense of me."
Despite it being a difficult journey to get to where he is today, he seems to be proud to know who he is.
"I could not picture myself as a woman aging," he told the outlet. "Obviously. It was just like, what is my future? There's not a future. That's kind of what it felt like. I would say, verbatim: I've never been a girl. I'll never be a woman."
