AI has named the scariest series on Netflix - Stephen King has already urged all his fans to watch it
AI has officially worked out what the scariest series on Netflix is, and it might just keep you up at night.
If you're looking for something truly scary to give you the goosebumps, there's plenty of options on Netflix.
But if you were wondering what the most bone-chilling offering they have is, look no further as AI has crunched the numbers - and even legendary horror author Stephen King agrees.
According to AI, the scariest series on the streaming platform is Marianne, a French horror series that many fans have called one of the "scariest TV shows ever made".
As for why it's so terrifying, AI cites that it's a "demonic witch horror" with "disturbing smiles/faces" and an "intense atmosphere", which "starts strong almost immediately".
And if that wasn't enough to convince you to give it a go, Stephen King also concurs - and if anyone's going to know a thing or two about horror, it's him.
The beloved author is the mind behind some of the most chilling tales to ever be published, with many of his great literary classics quickly being adapted for the big and small screens.
In fact, some of the most iconic horror movies to exist stem from the mind of King - such as Carrie (1976), The Shining (1980), Children of the Corn (1984), Misery (1990), and Gerald's Game (2017).
King has previously spoken highly of Marianne, the eight-part series which follows a famous horror writer called Emma.
However, the author's world is quickly shattered when she learns that one of the characters she writes in her horror novels exists in the real world and is tormenting Emma's loved ones.
Titled Marianne, the show was created by Samuel Bodin and Quoc Dang Tran and stars Victoire Du Bois, Lucie Boujenah, and Tiphaine Daviot.
King was quick to praise the show, writing in a previous tweet on X: "If you're one of those sickos--like me--who enjoys being scared, MARIANNE (Netflix) will do the job.
"There are glints of humor that give it a STRANGER THINGS vibe. It also has (I say it with all due modesty) a Stephen King vibe."
And since the show's release back in 2019, it has perhaps flown under the radar with English-speaking viewers, despite boasting an impressive 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and a further 7.3/10 on IMDb (which is high praise for a horror).
And over on X, viewers were quick to share their praise, with one person writing: "Two episodes in and I have to say that French horror series Marianne (on Netflix) is one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen. Skin-crawling horror masterclass."
Another added: "How everyone isn’t still talking about MARIANNE is a crime. Best horror series on Netflix. Really cool world building with an antagonist you can actually remember!"
A third tweeted: "Finally started Marianne on Netflix and this is hands down the best horror series I've seen in a long time. Compelling story, well rounded characters, and this is definitely going to give me nightmares."
So, what are you waiting for?
Marianne is available to stream on Netflix now... if you dare.
