Spoiler Alert: This article will explore the final episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

A fourth Captain America movie is in the works, as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

This will perhaps come as no surprise to fans of the Disney+ series, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, of which the final episode was released onto the platform yesterday (April 23).

Finally, after watching Sam Wilson play sidekick to Steve Rogers throughout the entire MCU, we finally saw Falcon don the red, white, and blue, abandon his former moniker, and take up the mantle of Captain America.

And, I don't know about you, but something about seeing Wilson wielding the shield and being called "Cap" just felt right.

Eagle-eyed viewers will have also noticed the end title card of the show read: Captain America and The Winter Soldier.

Now, THR has confirmed that a fourth Captain America movie is in development, with Malcolm Spellman - the head writer and creator of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier - co-writing the script with show staff writer Dalan Musson.

As of this writing, no official castings have been announced - but following the conclusion of the Disney+ series, one would have to assume that Anthony Mackie will return as Sam Wilson and the titular hero.

Of course, with the door open for a multiverse - as per the rumored Spider-Man/Dr. Strange installments - who knows how many Captain America's we may be seeing?

However, Screenrant reports that both Marvel President Kevin Feige and former Captain America actor Chris Evans have recently denied rumors that we'll be seeing Steve Rogers back in the MCU.

Additionally, it is still unknown if the upcoming project will feature Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Agent Sharon Carter/The Powerbroker, Daniel Brühl as Helmut Zemo, or Wyatt Russell as his new moniker, U.S. Agent.

The Disney+ series also teased seeing Danny Ramirez's Joaquin Torres as the new Falcon.

Either way, following the conclusion of the critically acclaimed series, there is no doubt fans will be overjoyed at the news that Captain America will be returning to the big screen.
