Netflix's 'The Haunting of Hill House' is getting an extended director's cut
Netflix's original series, The Haunting of Hill House, proved to be a huge success when it aired, last Halloween.
The show, which was based on the eponymous 1959 psychological horror novel by Shirley Jackson, was praised by critics and fans alike for its engaging characters and haunting atmosphere.
It was director Mike Flanagan's attention to detail more than anything that captivated audiences. If you watched the ten episodes of the series closely, you would have noticed a number of hidden spectral figures lurking in certain shots, and now, it appears that we may have more terrifying moments to look forward to.
Per Amblin, The Haunting of Hill House is getting a physical Blu-Ray release, and this will feature an extended cut to boot.
Amblin shared the news on Twitter over the weekend, writing "Good news, @haunting fans! Just listed, new to the market. Why lease when you can own a lovely estate like Hill House, now even more spacious with director @flanaganfilm’s extended cut of the series! Preorder now, this House is priced to move.
Fans were overjoyed by the announcement. "I have never pre ordered anything faster," commented one Twitter user, while another added "I am so obsessed with this series, I can't wait for this to be released!"
"Yes! I’m so glad I can add this to my collection," wrote a third.

According to Bloody Disgusting, the Blu-Ray release will include extended versions of several episodes, which Mike Flanagan says restores them to their "true form".
Flanagan took to Twitter to say that the news got leaked earlier than anticipated, which makes us think that the Blu-Ray release is still a way off. "Well this news got out there a LITTLE earlier than we wanted... but yes, it’s true! More details to come, but it was a blast restoring several episodes to their original form. Hope you all enjoy!" he wrote.
A sequel to the immensely popular show was confirmed earlier this year. Season two, titled The Haunting of Bly Manor, is expected to begin production in 2020, with a new cast, storyline and setting.
