Halloween horrors have come early!
October has always been the prime month for horror aficionados, and this year is no exception, with Netflix unveiling its latest spooky sensation: The Fall of the House of Usher. Check out the trailer below:
Directed by the mastermind Mike Flanagan, this series promises more than just your regular goosebumps.
Flanagan is no stranger to horror, having gifted us with spine-tingling movies like Oculus, Ouija: Origin of Evil, and Gerald's Game. Not to mention, he's the genius behind Netflix's acclaimed series The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, and The Midnight Club.
With such an impressive track record, it's no surprise that this latest addition carries sky-high expectations. And guess what? Early reviews suggest it doesn't disappoint. The show's current Rotten Tomatoes score speaks volumes at a whopping 95%.
Based on Edgar Allan Poe's classic 1839 short story of the same name, the new series introduces us to Roderick Usher, a powerful pharmaceutical company's CEO, as he confronts the horrifying secrets of his past. With his children meeting gruesome ends one after the other, the tale weaves modern-day dread with Poe's timeless horror.
Fans of The Haunting of Hill Hous would recall how he spun an original tale from the classic story.
Carla Gugino, one of the show's stars, gives potential viewers a tantalizing hint, telling Netflix: "It’s batsh*t crazy in the best possible way. It has quite a lot of very dark humor, but also really touches the soul."
For Flanagan aficionados, there's more good news! Many familiar faces from his previous works are making a comeback, including Annabeth Gish, Kate Siegel, Bruce Greenwood, Carl Lumbly, Henry Thomas, Michael Trucco, Rahul Kohli, Robert Longstreet, and Samantha Sloyan. But here's the cherry on top: Star Wars legend Mark Hamill has joined the ensemble, adding yet another layer of intrigue to the series.
Despite the show dropping within the last hour of this writing, horror fans are already flooding X (formerly known as Twitter) with praise for the series.
"Two episodes into Fall of the House of Usher and I had no idea Flanagan had this type of thing in him. So very much into it," one X user wrote.
In short, The Fall of the House of Usher is your passport to a thrilling horror adventure this October. So, why are you still here reading? Head over to Netflix and let the binge-watching begin!
