There's nothing quite like a Christmas film on a dark, cold night in December, is there?
When the winter nights draw in and the ground becomes frozen and snow-swept, rather than head out for a night on the tiles, many of us choose to remain indoors in the warm, and chow down on some serious festive fun.
Netflix have certainly done their bit to enable this noble tradition this year; their festive film lineup is extensive, and some of their specially made Christmas movies look really great:Yet fans have been clamouring for the return of an instant Christmas classic since it debuted last year on Netflix. The Christmas Chronicles was a hit with movie fans everywhere.
The film has a respectable 64% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the site summing up the movie thus;
"Viewers seeking a fresh holiday viewing option -- or those simply in the mood for Santa Kurt Russell -- should find The Christmas Chronicles well worth a yuletide stream."
If you never seen it, take a look at the trailer for The Christmas Chronicles:And much of the praise centres on Kurt Russell as Santa, so fans of the movie will be delighted to learn that, not only are we getting a second Christmas Chronicles movie, but that Russell will be reprising his role.
Netflix took to Twitter to confirm the good news, writing simply, "The Christmas Chronicles 2, coming next holiday season".
And fans were quick to comment their delight. One wrote, "I was just thinking about a sequel. This is awesome. I can't wait", while another added "My grandkids and I love this movie and have watched it over and over again this whole year! Can't wait for the sequel and hope there are even more to come!!"
Chris Columbus, who produced the first movie, will be stepping into the helm to direct the sequel. Christmas Chronicles 2 will be available to watch next holiday season.
