In a new photo update, Jeremy Renner thanked hospital staff for their work during the first phase of his recovery process following his snow plow accident last week.
The 52-year-old Marvel actor, best known for his portrayal of Hawkeye in the iconic franchise, was hospitalized after being run over by his own snow plow while helping clear the area around his home.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, the Mission Impossible star posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed with an oxygen mask on surrounded by healthcare professionals alongside a heartfelt caption thanking the staff at the ICU.
"Thank you Renowned Medical ICU team for beginning this journey," he wrote before following up with another post showing his appreciation to fans who have been sending him early birthday wishes.
Renner turned 52 today (January 7) but will be spending the occasion at Renown Regional Medical Center in his home state of Nevada.
It's now almost been a week since the actor was involved in a serious snow plow incident that saw him airlifted to hospital.
On Sunday (January 1), Jeremy Renner was run over by an "extremely large piece of snow removal equipment" weighing "at least 14,330 pounds", local authorities confirmed.
During a press conference on Tuesday (January 3), Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said that Renner's "PistenBully got stuck" and even though the Marvel star was successful in getting it moving again, it "started to roll" while he was having a conversation "with a family member."
"In an effort to stop the rolling PistenBully, Mr. Renner attempt[ed] to get back into the driver’s seat of the PistenBully. Based on our investigation, it’s at this point that Mr. Renner [was] run over," Balaam said.
The sheriff then noted that though the accident was "tragic", no foul play was suspected, though the piece of equipment was initially taken in for investigation.
At the time of the accident, a representative of Renner told The Hollywood Reporter that he was "in critical but stable condition."
"We can confirm Jeremy is in critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while plowing snow earlier today.
"His family is with him, and he is receiving excellent care," they added.
The Wind River alum's consistent updates have been giving fans some peace, including a video that he published on Thursday which showed his mother and sister treating him to a "spa day."
"A 'not so great’ ICU DAY, turned to amazing spa day with my sis and mama. Thank you sooooo much," he wrote on social media.
Despite the tragedy, it seems as though Renner's sense of humor is still intact. Hopefully he'll be back to feeling like himself again soon! Our thoughts and prayers are with him during his recovery journey.
