Many actors are well-known to take on their roles incredibly seriously - think Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto, and Tilda Swinton.
But the most dedicated don't necessarily require drastic weight loss, switching up accents, or even wearing prosthetic genitals.
In fact, sometimes all it takes is a little imagination and, in Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder's case, getting married for real on screen. You know, to create some authenticity.
That's exactly what the pair did in 1992, when they both starred alongside each other in the Francis Ford Coppola-directed movie, Bram Stoker's Dracula, obviously based on the 1897 gothic horror novel of the same name.
Coppola's flick starred Gary Oldman as Count Dracula, Anthony Hopkins as Abraham Van Helsing, Ryder as Elisabeta/Mina Harker, and Reeves as Jonathan Harker.
It's during this movie that Reeves and Ryder's characters wed in a religious ceremony. Though, the priests hired for the scene by Coppola were real.
In an interview with Esquire, 61-year-old Reeves said: "We did a whole take of a marriage ceremony with real priests. Winona says we are. Coppola says we are. So I guess we're married under the eyes of God."
Ryder, 54, also commented on her 30+ year marriage to Reeves, telling Entertainment Weekly in 2018: "We actually got married in Dracula."
The actress - who was engaged in real-life to Johnny Depp - added: "No, I swear to god I think we're married in real life. In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest. We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So, I think we're married."
However, the pair never signed any official documents relating to their marriage so, as Reeves stated, the wedding is only binding in the "eyes of God".
Reeves and Ryder have never been romantically linked, although they did reunite on-screen in the 2018 movie Destination Wedding. Of course, Reeves is clearly over-the-moon in his relationship with 53-year-old artist Alexandra Grant - with the pair making several public appearances together over the years.

The couple first met in 2011 and collaborated on a number of different projects. For instance, Grant provided the art for the books Ode To Happiness and Shadows - two volumes of poetry written by Keanu himself.
Per the Daily Mail, Grant hails from Ohio, but grew up in various parts of the world. An artist in her own right, she's been working in the arts since graduating from Swarthmore College in 1994.
Since then, she's had her work exhibited in various prestigious spaces across the world, including the LACMA, the Galerie Gradiva in Paris, and The Harris Lieberman Gallery in New York.

Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder have opened up about their "marriage" to one another.
Yes, some actors will go a long way to ensure that the scenes they are shooting and the characters they are portraying are as real as possible - but it sounds like Ryder and Reeves may have taken things too far.
You see, back in 1992, the iconic pair both starred alongside each other in Francis Ford Coppola's camp horror classic, Bram Stoker's Dracula - based on the 1897 gothic horror novel of the same name.
Coppola's flick starred Gary Oldman as Count Dracula, Anthony Hopkins as Abraham Van Helsing, Ryder as Elisabeta/Mina Harker, and Reeves as Jonathan Harker.
It is during the '92 film that Reeves and Ryder's characters are married in a religious ceremony. However, in Coppola's typical strive for realism - even in a film about a blood-sucking vampire - the priest hired for the film was actually a genuine man of the cloth.
In a previous interview with Esquire, 59-year-old Reeves said: "We did a whole take of a marriage ceremony with real priests. Winona says we are. Coppola says we are. So I guess we're married under the eyes of God."
Ryder, 52, also commented on her three-decade-long marriage to the Matrix star, telling Entertainment Weekly back in 2018: "We actually got married in Dracula."
The actress - who was once engaged in real-life to Johnny Depp - added: "No, I swear to god I think we're married in real life. In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest. We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So, I think we're married."
But the two stars never signed any official documents relating to their marriage so, as Reeves stated, the wedding is only binding in the "eyes of God".
Despite being close friends, Reeves and Ryder have never been romantically linked, although they did reunite on-screen in the 2018 movie Destination Wedding.
Of course, Reeves is clearly over-the-moon in his relationship with 51-year-old artist Alexandra Grant - with the pair making several public appearances together over the past year or so.
The couple first met in 2011 and collaborated on a number of different projects. Grant provided the art for the Reeves' volumes of poetry Ode To Happiness and Shadows.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Reeves shared a rare and tender insight into his relationship with Grant that left fans swooning.
When asked about the last moment of bliss he'd experienced, the actor replied: "A couple of days ago with my honey. We were in bed. We were connected. We were smiling and laughing and giggling. Feeling great. It was just really nice to be together."

Keanu Reeves has revealed that he's married... not to his long-term girlfriend Alexandra Grant, but to fellow actor Winona Ryder.
'But how is this possible?' I hear you cry. Well, it all stems from a movie Reeves and Ryder starred in back in 1992.
Fans may remember that in the Francis Ford Coppola movie Bram Stoker's Dracula, Reeves and Ryder's characters get married in a religious ceremony. However, I guess in an effort to make the scene feel more authentic, director Coppola hired real priests for the scene.

In fact, Ryder has even confirmed these comments, revealing in a 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly: "We actually got married in Dracula."

Of course, I can only imagine no actual license was signed, so I guess Reeves is right when he described the marriage as binding "under the eyes of God" only.

Whoever he's married to or in a relationship with, all I want is for Keanu to be happy. Because that man is absolutely - to use a phrase of his - breathtaking.

Keanu Reeves has revealed that he's technically married to actress Winona Ryder.
The Matrix star, 57, accidentally tied the knot with Ryder back in 1992 while filming a scene for Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula.
It was only supposed to be an on-screen-romance - but because the wedding was officiated over by real Romanian priests, Reeves believes they have been married "under the eyes of God" ever since.
"We did a whole take of a marriage ceremony with real priests," he explained in an interview with Esquire. "Winona says we are. Coppola says we are. So I guess we're married."
Ryder, 50, opened up about her 'marriage' to Reeves in a 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"We actually got married in Dracula. No, I swear to god I think we're married in real life. In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest. We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So, I think we're married," said the Stranger Things actress.
Despite their almost thirty-year union, Reeves and Ryder have never dated in real life - though they did star together in the 2018 movie Destination Wedding.
In 2019, Reeves made his relationship with visual artist Alexandra Grant public, while Ryder has reportedly been with fashion designer Scott Mackinlay Hahn since 2011.
Elsewhere in the interview, Reeves opened up about his friendship with co-star Sandra Bullock, who he first appeared alongside in the 1994 blockbuster Speed.
They reunited in 2006 for the fantasy comedy-drama The Lake House. The pair's on-screen chemistry and close friendship have led to years of rumors they might be romantically involved.
But Reeves gave nothing away, saying only that he would love to work with the Oscar-winning actress again.
"I think we have good chemistry. And it would be really exciting and interesting to get the chance to perform with her again," he confided.
The interview and cover shoot come as the star is promoting his latest movie - a highly-anticipated new installment in The Matrix series.
Set to premiere in late December, The Matrix: Resurrections will be the first Matrix movie to hit cinemas since The Matrix: Revolutions was released back in 2003.
Reeves, who starred in all three of the original films, will reprise his iconic role Neo.

Keanu Reeves has reportedly been married to another actress for the past three decades, all while rumors swirl about him having secretly wed his longtime girlfriend, Alexandra Grant.
The 60-year-old actor, best known for starring in the John Wick franchise, has long been known for keeping his personal life private.
However, it turns out Reeves may have tied the knot with actress Winona Ryder thirty years ago, due to the pair's appearance in Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula.
The strange twist in Reeves' love life began when he and Ryder's characters, Mina and Jonathan Harker, got married during a wedding scene in the 1992 film.
A real Romanian priest was brought in to perform the ceremony, leading Ryder to claim years later in a 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly that they were "actually married" in real life.
"We shot the master, and he did the whole thing. So, I think we’re married," the 53-year-old Stranger Things star said, joking about the situation.
Reeves, too, addressed the speculation in a 2018 interview: "We did a whole take of a marriage ceremony with real priests. Winona says we are, Coppola says we are, so I guess we're married under the eyes of God," per Variety.
Though the two have never dated in real life, the on-screen marriage has left fans amused by the idea that they’ve been inadvertently bound by the ceremony for nearly 30 years.
The Matrix star's actual relationship with visual artist Alexandra Grant has made headlines in recent years.
The couple, who have been together since 2018, were at the center of marriage rumors after Grant was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her wedding finger.
Reports even suggested they may have secretly married during an intimate ceremony in Europe over the summer. Reeves broke his silence on the speculation, with his publicist telling E! News: "It is not true. They are not married."
Grant, who has known the Speed actor for years and collaborated with him on two art books - Ode to Happiness (2011) and Shadows (2016) - has kept her relationship and views on marriage relatively private.
In a 2020 Vogue interview, she dodged the question, stating: "Love at every level is deeply important to my identity," while noting that she deeply values relationships in her life.
Though Reeves and Grant prefer to maintain privacy, they have occasionally shared sweet glimpses into their life together.
On the actor's 61st birthday this month, the artist shared a photo of a heart-shaped cake alongside a message of love: "Thank you to everyone for sending over sweet wishes for Keanu's birthday yesterday... he was well-celebrated!"
"To Keanu - who saw this post as a draft! - I am so grateful for your love and partnership," she added.
The award-winning star has previously opened up about how the pandemic brought him and Grant closer.
In August 2020, he told Parade: "It's been really wonderful to be with Alexandra... We enjoy each other's company, whatever that may be. Once the beaches opened up, we went for a motorcycle ride, and we have a couple of projects."
Regardless of whether Reeves is officially married to Ryder, it's clear that he has a deep and meaningful connection with his partner.

Getting married is one of the biggest moments that many of us will endure in our lives. Your nuptials are supposed to be the happiest day of your life and, for this reason, you would want to make sure that everything is as it should be. For some, this would be a traditional wedding in a church, with a white dress and all the family together for the occasion. For others, it may be a more low-key affair. But, whatever way you choose to go when it comes to your nuptials, you don't really want it to be an accident.
We've all heard the horror stories and seen the episodes of sitcoms when two people tie the knot during a drunken night in Las Vegas or another sinful part of Earth. However, while the majority of these stories are often substance-fuelled mistakes, the same cannot be said for the following 'wife and husband' duo.
According to Wynona Ryder, there's a possibility that she and Keanu Reeves may have been married for over a decade. Yes, between him wearing a leather overcoat and shooting bad people and her using Christmas lights to talk to monsters, the pair found time to tie the knot while filming a movie.
“We actually got married in Dracula,” the 46-year-old actress told Entertainment Weekly while the promoting their upcoming film Destination Wedding.
“No, I swear to God, I think we’re married in real life,” she said, revealing that during the production of the 1992 film, director Francis Ford Coppola “used a real Romanian priest” to preside over their wedding ceremony, which they filmed from beginning to end.
“We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married,” claimed Winona.
Despite the fact that your wedding day is meant to be a special, heart-warming affair, Reeves, 53, didn't seem to remember the ceremony quite as well as Winona did.
“Don’t you remember that? It was Valentine’s Day,” she replied, before Reeves eventually conceded, “Oh my gosh, we’re married.”
The duo star in Destination Wedding, a film where their characters meet on the way to a destination wedding and realise that they have a shared interest: neither of them wants to go. Despite the fact that they don't get on with each other at first, the socially awkward and pessimistic duo end up falling in love with each other throughout the course of the weekend.
It's not the first time that they have starred in a film together, in addition to both being in Dracula, the two stars have also appeared in 2006’s A Scanner Darkly and 2009’s The Private Lives of Pippa Lee.
“Winona is a lovely person and a talented actress,” Reeves previously told PEOPLE. “I think we make a good couple, and I liked that it’s a two-hander. To them, nobody else matters anyway, right? We did something like five eight-minute scenes, which you don’t often get a chance to do in films.”
Destination Wedding arrives in theatres on Aug 31.
