Khloé Kardashian has been slammed by social media users for posing in a hospital bed after her surrogate had given birth to her son.

Footage of the moment was released on Thursday (September 22) during the season 2 premiere of The Kardashians, with the first episode explaining the backstory of the 38-year-old's baby and birth.

The episode also focused on the Good American's co-founder's heartbreaking experience learning that her ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson, 31, had cheated on her again and that he had a baby with fitness model Maralee Nichols in December.

Later in the episode, viewers saw the reality TV star pose for a photo op in a hospital bed looking like a blissed-out mom even though it was a surrogate mother who gave birth to the newborn.

Watch a clip from the episode below:

Many critics questioned the new mom over it and labeled it insensitive, saying that she was not the one who went into labor and birthed the baby.

One user wrote: "Something is off with people becoming parents via surrogacy and then taking pictures in a hospital bed with a newborn. It's completely unnecessary. They could have just posted a picture of the baby in its bassinet."

Another said: The photos of Khloe Kardashian posing laying in a hospital bed with the infant she paid for, as though she did any of the work of gestating and birthing, are grotesque. Surrogacy is exploitation and people who pay poor women for use of their wombs are narcissistic to the core."

A third commented: "I’m aware there are more important things going on in the world but I need to know why Khloe Kardashian is lying in a hospital bed with her new baby when she had a surrogate."

A fourth wrote: "Can anyone explain why Khloe Kardashian is lying in a hospital bed with her newborn baby…..THAT WAS BORN VIA SURROGATE??? What the f***?!"

However, a few other users defended Kardashian for taking the time to bond in a hospital bed with her new baby, whose birth was announced early last month.

One user said: "Why am I seeing people triggered over Khloe Kardashian sitting on a hospital bed? there are other beds in the hospital for the surrogate to lay in I can assure u."

While another wrote: "Also, I don't care if @khloekardashian used a surrogate and wanted to have a moment with her new baby in a bed. If she's staying in the hospital with the new baby doesn't she deserve to have a bed? Y'all are too judgy...let her live."

The use of surrogate mothers has become common and is generally considered safe. Kardashian's older sister, Kim Kardashian had two of her four children, Chicago and Psalm, via surrogacy.

The reason for the SKIMS founder to use a surrogate is because she reportedly suffers from placenta accreta - a serious pregnancy condition in which the placenta grows too deeply into the uterine wall.

Although the mother of two never disclosed her reasons for using a surrogate, a source close to her told Heatworld that private medical reasons "factored into her decisions".

The insider also told the outlet that "not putting a huge strain on [Kardashian's] body" with a second pregnancy was also a "huge motivation" in her using a surrogate.
