A video of a DoorDash driver admitting they had left a note in the customer's food after thinking they weren't going to give her a tip has recently gone viral - and let's just say, social media users have A LOT to say about it.

Now, the debate around tipping has suddenly ignited once again on social media - with many suggesting it has gotten way out of hand, while others claim that it actually is a necessity, especially for those who work in the food and service industry.

With food delivery services continuing to become a part of day-to-day life - many people simply leave tips via the respective apps. However, this woman decided she wanted to tip her DoorDash driver in person after having some spare cash lying around. So, you can only imagine the customer's surprise when the driver turned down the tip AND left a rude surprise in her bag.

In the clip, which was posted to TikTok by Tamera from Maryland, you can see the woman approach the door with the customer's food in her hands.

She rings the bell and waits patiently as Tamera opens the door and greets her. But after Tamera attempted to hand over the cash tip, she received a surprising reply.

"Ignore - you keep that," she responds.

"Why?" Tamera asks.

"I didn’t see a tip on the app, and I put a little card in there so please keep that. I’m sorry," the driver replies.

"I just had cash, please take that," Tamera insists, but again, the driver rejects it and hurries back to her car, apparently feeling guilty about the note she has left in the package.

After seeing the note, she took to the caption to add: "POV: Your Door Dasher leaves a nasty note in your food thinking you wouldn’t tip."

In the first video, the content of the note was not disclosed, though after being asked by several social media users, Tamera obliged and gave us a glimpse of it.

"...Here [goes] the damn note," she said in a separate video featuring a snapshot of the salty letter, which read: "Lucky for you I didn’t bother the food. But next time consider tipping your driver."

The nerve!

After the videos amassed thousands of views, social media users were also less than impressed.

"I would be scared to eat my food after that," wrote one user while another added: "The GUILT!! She knew she messed up."

A third also wrote: "Wait that’s actually crazy that she put sum in ur bag tho cuz theyre not supposed to like mess with the bags like that [sic]."

Exactly, and upon hearing of the incident, DoorDash themselves decided to address the issue.
