The Royal Family has divided social media users after failing to acknowledge Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding anniversary.

On Wednesday, May 19, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated their third year of marriage, with no mention of the anniversary on any royal social media pages.

Instead, Prince William and Kate Middleton's social media accounts shared a video of the Duchess of Cambridge's visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall's accounts posted a series of photos of royal engagements as part of their visit to Northern Ireland.

Even the account for the Royal Family left out any mention of Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding anniversary. This is despite the fact it paid tribute to Prince William and Kate on their 10th wedding anniversary on April 29.

What has further fueled debate was that the account chose instead to announce Princess Beatrice's pregnancy on the Sussex's anniversary.

Included in the tweet was a photo of Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on their wedding day.

The sweet snap was captioned: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year. The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news."

The announcement of Princess Beatrice's pregnancy on the same day as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding anniversary didn't escape the notice of eagle-eyed social media users - many of whom felt that the Palace was intentionally snubbing the couple.

One Twitter user wrote: "That is good news, however why no congratulations to the Duke & Duchess of Sussex on their 3rd anniversary?"

Another concerned user commented: "Don't forget to wish the Duke & Duchess of Sussex a happy anniversary, the SAME way you did for the Cambridges @KensingtonRoyal !!!"

A third remarked: "The Royal family announces Princess Beatrice’s pregnancy on Harry and Meghan’s anniversary. That’s cold."

However, there were plenty of people who disagreed with the idea that the Royal Family is obligated to publically pay tribute to Harry and Meghan on their anniversary given that they stepped down as senior royals last year.

One person wrote: "They aren’t Royal anymore .. walked away and are private citizens …. Well… not very private !"

Another argued: "Why should they ? Would you congratulate people who ripped apart your family and publicly shamed them ?"

A third wrote: "Because they are not part of the RF anymore. They left."
