A self-proclaimed "time traveler" has shocked social media users after posting a video of what they claim to be the World Cup final, which is set to take place on December 18.

The men's FIFA World Cup began in Qatar earlier this month, and while controversy follows the tournament and the host nation, many fans have been able to enjoy the quality of the soccer on the pitch.

Whether it's Saudi Arabia conquering favorites Argentina, or Japan causing a big upset to Germany, it has been a tournament full of surprises.

The biggest surprise of all, however, might be that the winner of the tournament has already been announced... That is, if you are to believe a TikToker who dubs themself a true time traveler. In fact, they even shared footage of what they claim is from the  2022 World Cup final.

The mysterious video was posted by @worldcuptimetraveller on TikTok, where they declare that Brazil is the eventual winner in Qatar. They write in the new prediction: "Brazil just beat France in the 2022 World Cup Final. I am a time traveler."

And although you may think it is all nonsense, it certainly raises an eyebrow when you learn that the same account correctly predicted that Italy would get the better of England in the final of Euro 2020.

The new eerie video shows the Brazilian team in jubilant celebrations along with fans in the stands, whilst French striker Olivier Giroud is left looking rather forlorn.

If the video is to be believed, Brazil gets the better of the current world champions 2-1, with Griezmann netting for the French whilst Marquinhos and Richarlison are the heroes bagging the goals to bring the trophy to South America.

Viewers of the video were divided by the footage, with some naturally being skeptical.

In fact, some performed some deep detective work, with one person saying: "Isn't that the celebration from Richarlison [de Andrade] goal celebration tho? [sic]" with another adding: "The celebrations would not be so mild in the final are you kidding."

Other fans indulged the idea that the author of the video could be a time traveler, with a third saying: "Why does it look so … real," and a fourth confirmed: "He got it right on euro 2020 btw."

Both Brazil and France are yet to lose a game at the tournament at the time of writing, so a final between the two nations doesn't seem too far-fetched.

A couple's awkward moment in the crowd of a World Cup game has gone viral in recent weeks, for one good reason.

The World Cup is coming to an end this weekend after five weeks of action, which could be a downer for both soccer and non-soccer fans.

Storylines have been easy to follow for anyone watching the games this summer, whether it be Bellingham and Haaland's bromance or Mbappe's French army marching to victory.

But with the semi-finals on the horizon ahead of Sunday's final, it's also time to wave goodbye to random crowd moments like this one.

A clip of a disgruntled couple arguing in the stands of a group stage match between South Africa and Korea Republic has resurfaced on social media and garnered millions of views.

Despite the match happening around three weeks ago, viewers are shocked after they seemingly missed the heated moment.

What happened in the clip?

Millions of social media followers have been trying to figure out what the unhappy couple was bickering about at the June game in Monterrey, Mexico.

The fans can be seen draped out in team merchandise which features the South African flag, but things appear to turn sour pretty quickly.

A woman could be seen getting irritated at a man believed to be her partner, glancing over at him as he is on his phone.

She can then be seen getting more bothered by either what he is looking at, or the fact that he is on his phone while their country is competing at a World Cup for the first time in 16 years.

After being confronted, the man appears dismissive and puts his phone away and while the couple try to talk it out, it seems like something tipped the man over the edge.

Despite the woman trying to disengage from the situation and sit down, the man turns around and appears annoyed, telling her something in frustration.

But despite the argument reaching no real ending or conclusion, the man keeps dancing and cheering Bafana Bafana on, as they emerged 1-0 victors and secured a spot in the round of 32.

The woman on the other hand, looked disinterested after sitting down, with the man even feeding food to another woman standing next to him while the other remained seated.

Social media reaction

The viral video on X was captioned: “How can I file a divorce for someone else?”

Another wrote on TikTok: "I could feel her heart sink into her stomach, because I’m also a woman," as a third noted: “Mood went from 100 to 0 in a split second."

Some thought that the camera operator focused on the couple too much, but others started to theorize that he could've been messaging another woman, or simply putting bets on the game.

One user pointed out: “The cameraman was so invested,” as a different user joked: “Must be the same Coldplay cameraman."

Unfortunately, no further information has been released about the couple or the video, so nobody will ever know what really happened between them.

The FIFA World Cup final is fast approaching, with Spain waiting to find out who their final opponents will be after dismantling France in their semi-final.

Mbappe and co were outplayed by a disciplined Spanish side on Tuesday night (July 14), falling 2-0 to the European champions in Dallas.

England will face off against Argentina in the other semi-final this evening, to determine who will have a shot at soccer's biggest prize.

But while fans of the beautiful game will be looking forward to the pinnacle of the sport on Sunday, FIFA has announced that the viewing experience will last longer than usual.

For the first time in World Cup history, there will be a half-time show during the final, which will also mean that the second-half restart will be delayed.

Details behind the half-time show

It has been suggested that the World Cup final half-time show could last anywhere up to 30 minutes, breaking the International Football Association Board's (IFAB) rules.

They state that half-time must "not exceed 15 minutes," and while World Cup officials believe the break will only last 20 minutes, British broadcasters BBC and ITV are expecting a half-hour stoppage.

Last year's FIFA Club World Cup final, which also took place in the US, also featured a half-time show headlined by Coldplay, J Balvin and Doja Cat, and that lasted 24 minutes.

But for soccer's biggest game, the production is meant to last just 11 minutes in a Super-Bowl type performance, to be headlined by the likes of Madonna, Shakira and BTS.

Justin Bieber was also announced as a co-headliner of the show, while Burna Boy is also set to perform alongside Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS 22 Chorus, and Coldplay.

In a statement from FIFA, they claimed that "football, music and social impact" will be coming together in a celebration at MetLife Stadium.

Why has FIFA decided to have a half-time show?

The governing body said that this performance will help support its Global Citizen Education Fund, with the aim of raising $100 million.

They also aim to "expand access to quality education and football opportunities for children worldwide."

FIFA even claimed that $1 from every World Cup match ticket sold is going towards "social projects around the world."

This isn't the first time that FIFA has set a precedent at this tournament, having overturned Team USA striker Florin Balogun's red card suspension, allowing him to play against Belgium in the round-of-16.

Statement from the FIFA President

FIFA President Gianni Infantino spoke about the half-time show, saying: "When it comes to what the world needs, there is nothing more important than education.

"We are proud to have Justin Bieber joining Madonna, Shakira and BTS to co-headline the Fifa World Cup 2026 final half-time show in support of the Fifa Global Citizen Education Fund and our mission to expand access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world.

"As the world unites for the most significant football match in history on Sunday, July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium, this groundbreaking spectacle, curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay, will celebrate football, music and our shared values, ensuring a legacy that transcends the final whistle."

Fan reaction to the half-time show

It's fair to say that soccer fans are not the biggest fans of the decision, with many taking to social media to air out their grievances.

One said on X: "They should never get the World Cup again," as another asked: "Pre-match show, first half hydration break, half-time show, second half hydration break and closing show. Any football going to be played?"

A third wrote: "Half time is 15 minutes. Any longer should be booed for every second."

"FIFA ruining the great game once again. Gianni Infantino needs to be fired asap," a different user claimed.

Many also worried that the extended break could negatively affect the players' rest and recovery, but time will tell if this will be the case.

Argentinian goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez left audiences shocked after his celebration on stage after the FIFA World Cup 2022 final consisted of a pretty risqué gesture...

Now, when I tell you Sunday night's World Cup final was wild, I'm not kidding.

Argentina and France gave us a match that people will be talking about for years to come.

While everything seemed to be going in Argentina's favor for a massive chunk of the game, Kylian Mbappe, hailed as the star player of France's national team, pulled his squad out of their rut with two consecutive goals in the 80th and 81st minute, sending both teams into extra time.

However, after a nail-biting 30 minutes, followed by an overwhelming defeat on penalties, the French were forced to hand over the victory to Argentina who now have an impressive three World Cup wins under their belt.

Of course, then came the celebrations.

You would think that seeing the players shedding tears of joy with their teammates following such a competitive tournament would be the overall highlight, right? Well, there was a moment that topped that and it seems as though it's become a hot talking point online.

During the post-match ceremony, we saw Argentinian goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez receive the coveted Golden Glove award for his efforts - and well-deserved, may I add.

However, within seconds of holding the award, he placed it over his groin area, making it seem like the accolade was a huge, golden schlong in front of thousands of spectators at Doha's Lusail Stadium, as well as millions of viewers watching at home.

Though the gesture was extremely crude, it seems as though Qatari officials took it pretty well, with just the odd side-eye here and there.

Besides that, Martinez was praised as a hero for his country, especially during the penalties.

Not only did he manage to save Kingsley Coman's shot, he also dabbled in a few mind games with Aurélien Tchouaméni which proved to unsettle the French player, ultimately making him fire his shot a little too wide.

The Ashton Villa goalkeeper received his Golden Glove award alongside Lionel Messi, who won the best player, Enzo Fernandez who won the best young player and Kylian Mbappe who won the Golden Boot.

England's friendly game before the 2026 World Cup sparked unexpected backlash after viewers spotted fans eating full meals at tables beside the pitch.

While the Three Lions secured a comfortable victory over Costa Rica in Orlando, Florida, on Wednesday (June 10), many fans watching at home were distracted by the unusual scenes unfolding behind the corner flag.

As England star Declan Rice prepared to take a corner during the match, cameras captured supporters sitting at tables just yards from the action, enjoying burgers, fries, and drinks, with cans of beer and bottles of water.

For many soccer fans, especially in the UK, this was a complete contrast to a traditional match, where fans are usually packed into the stands, singing and cheering their team on.

The bizarre moment quickly went viral on X, with many British viewers not holding back in sharing their frustration.

"Weirdest thing you will ever see at a football match," one viewer wrote, while another slammed: "Americans are intent on desecrating the beautiful game."

"This is sooo American, sooo empty, sooo devoid of any passion that’s exactly what belongs in soccer. As if they’re sitting at the golf club having lunch, totally uninterested in the game. Which they don’t get either, I reckon," a third said.

A fourth questioned: "I get it why you might want to eat during a stop/start 4hr game of American football but come on, do you really need a sit down meal during a 90 minute game of football. Is it really necessary?"

"Only in America's World Cup," a user added.

World Cup begins amid controversy

While England's victory led to a discussion about stadium culture on social media, FIFA officials were dealing with far more serious issues ahead of the tournament opener.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino faced questions over the case of Somali referee Omar Artan.

The 34-year-old had been set to become the first referee from Somalia to officiate at the tournament but was denied entry to the United States despite believing he had a valid visa.

The decision drew criticism, with Infantino acknowledging the situation during a pre-tournament press conference.

"It is unfortunate what happened to Omar. But we don't control everything. We try, we discuss, and we will speak," he said, per Sky News.

"Maybe sometimes it is good as well to just chill and relax. We work on everything and try to solve everything. Sometimes, to start screaming and shouting has the opposite effect of finding a solution."

He added: "Believe me when I tell you, don't believe me if you want, we always try to find solutions. We are not the kings of the world who can rule over governments and police forces; we are a sports organisation."

When asked to clarify his comments, the president continued: "In 2035, I think the Women's World Cup will be in (the) UK.

"Would you find it normal that FIFA would dictate to the British Government who to let in the country and who not to let in the country? I don't know, maybe you find it normal," he continued. "Our world is a very aggressive world, and security goes above everything. You need to respect the decisions."

"When I say 'chill', I don't mean 'chill and do nothing', I mean to trust us," he added.

The 2026 World Cup starts tonight with host nation Mexico facing off against 2010 host nation South Africa in the historic Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
