A couple's awkward moment in the crowd of a World Cup game has gone viral in recent weeks, for one good reason.
The World Cup is coming to an end this weekend after five weeks of action, which could be a downer for both soccer and non-soccer fans.
Storylines have been easy to follow for anyone watching the games this summer, whether it be Bellingham and Haaland's bromance or Mbappe's French army marching to victory.
But with the semi-finals on the horizon ahead of Sunday's final, it's also time to wave goodbye to random crowd moments like this one.
A clip of a disgruntled couple arguing in the stands of a group stage match between South Africa and Korea Republic has resurfaced on social media and garnered millions of views.
Despite the match happening around three weeks ago, viewers are shocked after they seemingly missed the heated moment.
Millions of social media followers have been trying to figure out what the unhappy couple was bickering about at the June game in Monterrey, Mexico.
The fans can be seen draped out in team merchandise which features the South African flag, but things appear to turn sour pretty quickly.
A woman could be seen getting irritated at a man believed to be her partner, glancing over at him as he is on his phone.
She can then be seen getting more bothered by either what he is looking at, or the fact that he is on his phone while their country is competing at a World Cup for the first time in 16 years.
After being confronted, the man appears dismissive and puts his phone away and while the couple try to talk it out, it seems like something tipped the man over the edge.
Despite the woman trying to disengage from the situation and sit down, the man turns around and appears annoyed, telling her something in frustration.
But despite the argument reaching no real ending or conclusion, the man keeps dancing and cheering Bafana Bafana on, as they emerged 1-0 victors and secured a spot in the round of 32.
The woman on the other hand, looked disinterested after sitting down, with the man even feeding food to another woman standing next to him while the other remained seated.
Talk about drama off the pitch.
The viral video on X was captioned: “How can I file a divorce for someone else?”
Another wrote on TikTok: "I could feel her heart sink into her stomach, because I’m also a woman," as a third noted: “Mood went from 100 to 0 in a split second."
Some thought that the camera operator focused on the couple too much, but others started to theorize that he could've been messaging another woman, or simply putting bets on the game.
One user pointed out: “The cameraman was so invested,” as a different user joked: “Must be the same Coldplay cameraman."
Unfortunately, no further information has been released about the couple or the video, so nobody will ever know what really happened between them.

It seems Sunday's World Cup final - which was viewed by over 3.75 billion people - even lit up the living room of Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, as Prince William may well have sat on the edge of his seat to watch the nail-biting win from Argentina like the rest of us.
The 120-minute football extravaganza between Argentina and France resulted in a final score of 3 - 3, forcing the teams to battle it out in a penalty shoot-out which saw Messi's Argentina take home the coveted World Cup trophy (which is made from pure 18-carat gold and worth $20 million). The drama-filled competition has been deemed the "best World Cup ever" by multiple outlets, including New York Magazine and CNN.
The Prince of Wales, 40, must have agreed after he wrote on his wife Kate Middleton's official Twitter account: "What. A. Final. Congratulations to Argentina and to Messi [sic]," accompanied by a goat emoji which stands for the acronym G.O.A.T - meaning "greatest of all time."
"Commiserations to France - both teams played brilliantly. W," he added.
However, the innocent tweet sparked outrage on social media after netizens came forward to question the heir to the throne on why he's chosen to remain silent on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix series, but chose to post about the World Cup instead.
The six-episode docuseries revealed several explosive accusations against the Royal Family, including that the then-Prince Charles' office had allegedly leaked details of 38-year-old Harry and 41-year-old Meghan's plans to relocate to South Africa and then to Canada. The father-of-two had even claimed that his older brother had screamed at him about their exit from royal life during a meeting with their father and the late Queen Elizabeth II.
So far, the palace has also declined to comment on the allegations, as well as further claims from Harry that William's office leaked negative stories about him and Meghan to the press. According to The Mirror, the Royal Family is choosing to "maintain a dignified silence" to avoid a public row with the California-based couple.
This continued silence, however, has frustrated netizens. One person simply commented: "Seriously? This is your response?"
"Your failure to condemn signals you are ok with the hate and vitriol against your own brother and [sister-in-law]…..shame on you," someone else added, referencing the hateful article written about Meghan by Jeremy Clarkson for The Sun.
A third user chimed in, also referencing The Sun column: "Clarkson's column should be officially condemned. I have no plans to read Spare or watch Netflix, but I condemn the hate in Clarkson's column. Please consider doing so, too."
"So William was quick to defend the family after the Oprah interview by saying they weren't racist. So he can speak. But he has never defended Meghan by denouncing the racism that was in the media. And is silent on the violence now printed. I see," another person tweeted.
So far, Buckingham Palace has not commented on the accusations - though it is expected that a statement may come out following the release of Prince Harry's upcoming memoir Spare, which is set to hit bookstores on January 10.

It's World Cup season right now, and that means it feels like everyone on the planet with a pulse and a working pair of eyes has got football fever ... or soccer mania for all you Americans out there. Yes, the kick-off in Moscow has got everyone placing bets and cheering on their teams, and suffice to say, here in the UK, the pubs and bars are positively packed with sports fans. I'd be surprised if my dad, a consummate football fan, has managed to unglue himself from the sofa and turn off the TV over the last fortnight.
But on the other side of the coin, for people like me who aren't into sports, and who are particularly apathetic about the beautiful game, World Cup season is an absolute nightmare. It's hard to understand the appeal of something people get so passionate about, when it feels like a party that you haven't been invited to - especially when your friends follow it avidly, and talk about little else but the last match, the upcoming fixtures, and their own personal take on player's performances. When it comes to talking about football, I'd have an easier time describing the process of nuclear fission in Mongolian than giving a mid-match commentary.

This week, the girlfriend of a major football fan was given that unwelcome job, and her clueless summary of the game was unintentionally hilarious. Alison Finlay, a student who hails from London, was forced to step up when her footie-mad partner had to miss the game between England and Tunisia on Monday, June 18. Alison told the Press Association that her boyfriend was travelling home on the London Underground, and thus needed her to fill him in. "He had to work late and hoped he’d make it back (for the game) but didn’t, so asked me to fill him in. I kindly obliged!" she stated.
[[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/lightningstarr/status/1009833227656327168]]
On Twitter, Alison stated: "My boyfriend asked me to text him updates from the #ENGTUN game as he's on his way home. You can't say it's not accurate." She then offered such gems as "A Tunisian man is on the [floor]. Looks like he got hit in the hair. Referee is uninterested. The man with the injured hair is not pleased." She later added: "It was a good goal but England missed a few chances and will need to up their game if they want to go far in the tournament. They might also want to work on their hair, as they were shown up horribly by Tunisia in that regard."
[[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/lightningstarr/status/1009836353440362496]]
Twitter users seemed to really appreciate Alison's unorthodox style of commentary, with one stating: "This is excellent commentary. Please continue. I see know issues". Another person added: "Please please please tweet for all the games! Your comments are a million times better than every announcer in the US!" Who knows? Maybe we could see Alison on ESPN one of these days? I'd certainly tune in to watch her.

Every time the World Cup rolls around and I get caught up in all the goals, drama and festivities, I wonder how I ever managed to survive four years without it. As the world's most popular sport, the past three weeks or so have seen the world gripped with World Cup fever, and whether you're a disappointed German or ecstatic Russian, this has been a tournament for the ages.
I think that people will remember this World Cup for a very long time, and not just because of what happened on the pitch. The internet being the gift that keeps on giving, the World Cup has been the context for the best meme to emerge from this tournament ('Football's Coming Home' being a close second), involving ostensibly one of its best players.
With five titles to their name and a significant chance of bringing home the Jules Rimet trophy for a record sixth time, Brazil are undoubtedly the quintessential World Cup team, and in Neymar, they've got a genuinely world-class player to pin their hopes on. The striker has started slowly this time around, but if Brazil make it all the way, he'll have played a big part.
Unfortunately, his star status has seen opposition players give him some rough treatment in an attempt to knock him off his game. It's a tough part of the game, but Neymar has been mercilessly mocked for his... let's say, theatrical responses to the unwanted attention.
[[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/NutmegRadio/status/1013807341353996289]]
That's Neymar in the World Cup Quarter Final against Mexico, responding to an errant boot by his opponent as if he'd been shot. It's one way to accentuate any illegal contact from opposition players... but it's also a great way to get mocked by billions all over the world.
Case in point, these rather delightful memes:

[[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/FBAwayDays/status/1013834759917711367]]
Which eventually led to this absolutely hilarious video, which can be enjoyed over and over again without it ever getting old:

Now, it's not uncommon for fast food brands to try and get in on global trends, adding their own rather interesting twists. In fact, Burger King have already had to pull an ill-advised post encouraging Russian women to procreate with global football stars, in order to breed a generation of soccer superstars (presumably with crippling Daddy issues).
But KFC South Africa's latest advert involving the World Cup is much better taste, and I'm not just talking about the food. In what was probably an inevitable twist on that last video, KFC took a very familiar sight at this World Cup, and turned it into something decidedly Finger Lickin' Good:
[[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/JackGrimse/status/1014862194918477824]]
He just doesn't. Stop. Rolling. We're used to KFC knocking it out of the park with their weird yet wonderful marketing ploys, but even for them, this is pretty awesome. Whatever happens in the showcase final later on this month, I for one won't be forgetting this World Cup in a hurry, and with the help of KFC and Neymar, I doubt you will either.

Victoria Beckham has received a lot of backlash after her muted reaction to England's historic victory over Norway in the World Cup quarter-finals on Saturday (July 11).
Posh Spice could be seen sitting with her husband, David, who is a former England captain himself, and their family.
This included children Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 15, with the continued absence of Brooklyn from family functions.
The Beckhams sat in their private VIP box at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium, where they watched the Three Lions emerge victorious over Erling Haaland's Norway in a 2-1 win, after extra time.
Jude Bellingham bagged both goals, with the second coming as the winner in the third minute of extra time, where David, aka Golden Balls, could be seen going ballistic.
While David and his sons could be seen with fists in the air at another magic moment from the Real Madrid and England midfielder, Victoria appeared less than impressed.
The result booked England a spot in the semi-finals for just the fourth time in World Cup history, but the former Spice Girl held a stern look on her face as England's second goal flew in.
Her reaction soon went viral, with many taking aim at the fashion designer and her perceived lack of patriotism, but her husband was quick to come to her defense.
American comedian Jenny Johnson made some sarcastic comments about Victoria's reaction, writing: "I wanted to take a moment to single out @england’s number one fan Victoria, Lady Beckham!!!!
"There’s nothing like cheering your heart out for England from home, then they cut to Victoria, and we see that classic Posh Spice smile!"
She joked that it was "infectious," and that "Victoria blows my enthusiasm out of the water," concluding: "Each time I see her I shout, 'SPICE UP YOUR LIFE!!!!' because her energy is electric!!! See for yourself!"
David spotted the post, and while he remained playful, he defended his wife of 27 years in a comment.
"She was celebrating inside I promise [laughing emoji]. Her reactions were slightly slower than mine @jennyjohnsonhi5," he penned.
It's fair to say that England fans weren't best pleased, as one joked: "People are often critical of Victoria Beckham but to see this outpouring of emotion here from her as England scores a goal shows her deep connection with both football and the team," with a snap of their reactions.
Another posted: "That priceless moment when you can tell how much Posh Spice loves football," with laughing emojis.
A third pointed out the time "England turned on Beckham," when Three Lions fans hung effigies of the player from lampposts after the winger was sent off in a 1998 round-of-16 tie against Argentina, which England lost on penalties.
The media also branded him "one stupid boy," as crowds around the country booed him for over a year - so maybe the lack of enthusiasm could be understood.
But footage from later on showed that she did stand up to applaud the goal, seconds after David jumped out of his seat.
Others defended Posh Spice, as one user penned: "Well she didn't earn the name Posh Spice just to start screaming and jumping around like a football hooligan."
Another agreed: "Can’t blame her, she probably still hates the fans from when they chanted about her."
A different user wrote: "Love her even more for this. She is who she is."

After the World Cup’s co-hosts, the USA, lost 4-1 to Belgium last night, missing out on a place in the quarter-finals and being kicked out of the competition, soccer fans have begged the President to pull some strings and get their national team back in the game.
Since the country has been turfed out of the tournament, fans flocked to social media to ask Donald Trump to use his position of power to ask FIFA for another chance to prove themselves.
Fans have faith that a plea from Trump could work, as his request to review US top striker Folarin Balogun’s ban worked and got him back on the pitch.
The team’s top goal-scorer was set to miss out on the match against Belgium after receiving a red card in the US’ previous game against Bosnia and Herzegovina before Trump stepped in.
Unsurprisingly, soccer fans have begged the President to step in again and use his power to get the USA back into the global event of the year.
One soccer fan boldly claimed on social media: “The US can still win the World Cup if Donald Trump has the courage.”
Another person, although seemingly less convinced by Trump’s influence, said: “Do you think Trump will make another phone call to ask them to overturn Belgium’s win? I wouldn’t put it past him.”
A third added: “The officials were totally corrupt. Trump needs to call Gianni.”
Gianni Infantino took over as FIFA president promising to reform the organization following the major 2015 corruption scandal, but his tenure has since been dogged by a string of controversies and ethics questions.
He has faced multiple ethics investigations and controversies of his own, including a Swiss criminal probe into secret, undocumented meetings he held with the country's former Attorney General who was investigating football corruption at the time.
Unsurprisingly, Infantino faced intense criticism over alleged political interference after FIFA abruptly suspended a red-card ban for Balogun immediately following a phone call from Trump.
Despite the pleas from US soccer fans, it appears the co-hosts' World Cup campaign is over for good, regardless of any calls made to FIFA's top brass.
Even if the USA team did make it through the knock-out stages, they would have faced the rather strong Spanish team, and hopes of beating them would be even slimmer.
