Trevor Noah has been praised for proving that making jokes about Taylor Swift's effect on the NFL can be done without being disrespectful, after he hosted the 2024 Grammy Awards.

Taylor's presence at the Kansas City Chiefs' games has been hitting the headlines in recent months since she started dating the team's star player, Travis Kelce, with some fans complaining that there was too much focus on the star.

Of course, Taylor herself has no control over what's being shown by the cameras at the events, however, she has become the butt of some awards show jokes due to the intense scrutiny around her relationship.

Jo Koy's joke about her at the Golden Globes went down like a lead balloon earlier this year, as he told the crowd: "The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift."

Taylor's stony-faced reaction to the quip soon went viral, with Jo later addressing what he meant by it, telling GMA3: "I think it was when the Taylor one was just a little flat... It was a weird joke, I guess. It was more on the NFL... I was trying to make fun of the NFL using cutaways and how the Globes didn’t have to do that. So it was more of a jab toward the NFL. But it just didn’t come out that way."

While Jo's joke fell pretty flat, Trevor managed to serve up some Taylor references at the Grammy Awards which were a serious hit with fans - and the singer herself.

As the Reputation star was seen walking in to get to her table, the host commented: "Are you seeing what's happening right now? As Taylor Swift moves through the room, the local economy around those tables improves.

"Can you see you get this magic right now? Look at this magic. Lionel Richie, now Lionel Wealthy. Look at that," referencing the fact fans will be more than aware that Tay has been responsible for significant boosts to the local economy in places where her tour has stopped.

The crowd erupted in laughter before he added: "I think it is so unfair how NFL fans have been complaining about the cameras cutting to Taylor Swift, like she's controlling the cameras at the games. Alright? Let her live.

"In fact, tonight, on Taylor’s behalf, you know what I’m going to do? I’m gonna give her a break. Every time they mention Taylor Swift, I’m gonna get revenge. Every time someone says Taylor Swift, I’m gonna cut the cameras to someone who plays football. Cut, bam."

The camera then cut to Terry Crews, who initially looked surprised before bursting into a huge smile, before it then showed Taylor who was cracking up at the joke.

He then gave Taylor her flowers by pointing out that history could be made if she won the Album of the Year award for the fourth time - which she then of course went on and did.

Fans were loving the contrast of the joke to the Golden Globes fallout, tweeting: "this is how you make a joke about taylor swift."

Others added: "the first man at an award show to make a joke about taylor swift the proper way", and: "shoutout to trevor noah for making RESPECTFUL taylor swift jokes."

One fan also wrote: "I would like to thank Trevor Noah for hyping the women up and skipping the misogynistic Taylor Swift jokes. I shouldn’t have to thank him, but I think we all know why."
