A Texas mother has urged families that watching Hocus Pocus 2 could "open the gates of hell" and invite evil spells into their homes.
Jamie Gooch, 33, from Troy, has warned parents to not let their children watch the long-awaited Halloween movie sequel which premiered on Disney+ on September 30.
The mother of three has claimed that the movie - which stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy - will "unleash hell on your kids and in your home," in an interview with local news station KWTX.
"The whole movie is based on witches harvesting children for blood sacrifices," Gooch said, seemingly on the verge of tears. "It grieves me, the thought of exposing our kids to darkness."
Watch Gooch's interview below:The original flick follows the Sanderson sisters, Winifred, Mary, and Sarah, who are accidentally resurrected in modern-day Salem, Massachusetts, and begin murdering children to devour their souls to stay young forever.
In the sequel, the trio attempts to cast a spell that would make them all-powerful, so they could get vengeance on the historical city, which is the home of the infamous witch trials.
"Do not watch this film," Gooch advised. "Everybody thinks it’s fake and innocent, but they could be casting any type of spell that they want to, anything could be coming through that TV screen into your home."
"I love everything to do with house and home, I love creating a safe environment for my family and friends to come into, I believe everything starts here, it all starts at home," she said, adding, "So beware and be aware of what we’re bringing into our homes."
The mother - who is a conservative Christian that runs a farm with her husband - revealed that her family has not celebrated Halloween in "four or five years," however, they celebrate harvest each year.
Furthermore, Gooch told the local outlet that she's personally seen how things on TV have become "manifested in real life," but did not elaborate on her apparent experience with witchcraft.
"Everybody thinks it's fake and innocent, but they could be casting any type of spell that they want to, anything could be coming through that TV screen and into your home," she told KWTX.
Gooch went on to encourage parents to "take in all the options" and to "overthink" things to make sure they are keeping their children safe.
Since the spooky season has begun, Gooch felt the need to make a post on her Facebook account about the Halloween movie to alert other moms to think about the content their children are consuming.
"I was a little bit scared when I hit 'post' because I was afraid of the reaction that I would get," she said to the news station, explaining that the majority of the feedback to her viral message was positive.
"It was wonderful in a sense that a lot of people agreed with me in that they already knew, there were some that didn’t understand, but it was welcomed: tell me your opinion I want to hear where you’re coming from, although it doesn’t change my convictions or what I choose to do with my family," she added.
While the mother's opinion may not be the most popular, she expressed that if putting it out there opens one person’s mind, it was worth it.
"I hope I make a difference, but even if it’s in one person’s life...that’s all that matters," Gooch said. "It doesn’t have to be transforming Hollywood, I don’t have to make a huge impact, just a small one and I’d be happy and satisfied."
