Despite only separating from his ex-wife, Anna Faris, last year, Chris Pratt has already found himself in a serious relationship - and he's set to put a ring on it. The Guardians of the Galaxy actor let the world know he was dating Katherine Schwarzenegger in December last year, and then announced their engagement earlier this month.
"Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes! I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go! ??♥️," he wrote on Instagram.
"They’re both serious about the relationship and hopeful for the future," a source told People magazine shortly before the announcement. "Chris doesn’t just date to date, and neither does Katherine. She’s very excited. Chris and Katherine are very happy together. They’re very compatible and have a lot in common."
As it turns out, though, this relationship may have been on the cards long before the two of them started dating.
In a recent segment on Access, Pratt was shown an interview with his fiance that took place way back in 2017. During the interview, 29-year-old Schwarzenegger was asked which of three famous Hollywood Chrises she preferred - Hemsworth, Evans, or Pratt (no mention of Pine, for some reason).
She answered immediately... with Evans. Oh no! But then backtracked, saying, "Actually, Chris Pratt. He's been looking good lately, so you never know." Oh yes!
Pratt's reaction to the interview was a tiny rollercoaster of emotions: the initial disappointment at hearing one of his Avengers co-stars' names, and then joyful surprise when he saw her change her mind.
"When she said Chris Evans, my heart sank and then she rescued it," Pratt said, before immediately challenging the interviewer on how legit the clip was. "You guys just made that," he joked.
"No, I swear, this is from two years ago," the interviewer confirmed.
"That's so sweet, I've literally never seen that before," he said.
As the Lego Movie star prepares to marry his new love, however, he still remains close to his ex-wife - quite literally, in fact. Faris lives just down the road from where Pratt and Schwarzenegger just bought a house together, and has expressed her happiness for the two of them since their relationship became public.
"I'm so happy for you both! Congratulations!" the House Bunny actress commented on the Insta post announcing their engagement.
She also joked about officiating their wedding. "Chris texted me this morning and he was like, 'I proposed to Katherine last night.' And I was like, 'Ahh, that’s amazing'," she said on her podcast, Unqualified. "And I texted him back like, 'I just wanted to remind you I’m an ordained minister.'"
Even for exes that stay friends, that might be a little too close for comfort - but hey, as long as everyone's happy, what's the harm? Congrats to Pratt and Schwarzenegger on their engagement; don't forget to put our wedding invite in the post!
