A 48-year-old child-free woman has given a string of excellent reasons she will never have children. She's also adamant that there's no chance of her regretting her choice.

And she certainly isn't alone in her desire not to have any kids of her own. In fact, an increasing number of people in the US are choosing not to.

According to a 2021 report by the Pew Research Center, more than 44% of non-parents between the ages of 18 and 49 say it is unlikely or not at all likely that they will have kids at some point. This marks a 7% rise from 37% in 2018.

There are several reasons why people are opting out of parenthood - but the reality is, many simply cannot afford it.

Inflation is leading to a huge increase in prices of staple groceries, renting and buying is extremely expensive and the federal minimum wage is still just a measly $7.25 at the moment.

Taking all that into account, it's really not hard to see why some people feel bringing a little one into the world is the last thing their bank account needs.

Others, however, simply aren't interested  - TikToker Gvizzle, for example.

Gvizzle took to TikTok last year and told her followers in a now-viral video that she has always known that she never wanted to become a parent.

She stitched a younger woman's post in which the woman asked child-free ladies over the age of 40 if they were still happy with their choice as she'd been told that she would regret not starting a family one day.

Responding to the clip, Gvizzle said: "I have known my entire life [that] I wasn't going to have children. It was not [even] a decision I made, [it was] something I have always known. When I was five, my best friend wanted to play house and I said let's play 'Neighbors'. At seven, I turned to my mom and said, 'If I ever get married, I'm not having kids.'"

She then proceeded to reel off all of the things people have told her to convince her to have children despite not wanting any.

Gvizzle recalled people telling her she wouldn't be a "real woman" if she didn't have babies and that she wouldn't "know love."

She then raised this excellent point: "People should question why they want to have children just as much as people who don't want to have children question it and think about it. Because not everybody should be a parent."

People fail, according to Gvizzle, to take into consideration that we're all different and people all want different things out of life.

Gvizzle is happy enough having a dog over a child, admitting she'd feel her house was empty without a pet pooch. The content creator points out that she would never try to convince people to get a dog, so they should refrain from telling her that her life would have been better off as a parent.

The mom of none refuted the non-argument that it would be a shame to forgo the "perfect man" if he wanted kids and she didn't, telling her viewers if that were the case he wouldn't be the "perfect man" for her.

Doubling down on her previous points, she reiterated: "I have not regretted in 48 years for a heartbeat not having children."

She did, however, point out that if she ever did come to regret her decision, she would rather spend the next few decades of her life regretting not having kids than have spent the last 20 years and the next 40 regretting having had them.
