Aldi really is pulling out all the stops this year.

Over the summer we were treated to endless pool floats, garden accessories and genius barbecue add-ons, and now in the run up to the festive season, they're really going gung-ho on all things Christmas.

Already, we've had word of a two-metre long pig in blanket, surely colossal enough to serve the whole family (and incidentally apparently the longest piece of meat in the United Kingdom), as well as their delicious sounding candy cane gin liqueur, which is said to taste of vanilla and peppermint.

So once you've had your Christmas breakfast of choice (mine's a smoked salmon on a toasted croissant), you're going to want something refreshing and alcoholic to wash things down with.

Enter, stage right, the Granddady of them all, Aldi's infamous six-litre bottle of Prosecco.

Last year, this veritable behemoth of a beverage sold out in just one day, per the Mirror, so this year if you want enough Prosecco to pour the bubble bath of your dreams, it's likely you'll have to act fast.

It's so colossal that you can apparently get a totally nuts 96 glasses out of it, which, since the bottle costs £99, works out at just over a pound a glass. Not bad.

And to be fair it does sound like an extremely tasty tipple. The product description reads;

"light, fun and frothy - with notes of parma violets, ripe pear and papaya, as well as having a soft and well-balanced palate".

Those wanting to add the gargantuan bottle to their collection will able to do so from November 1, when you'll be able to purchase a bottle (it's limited to one bottle per customer) from Aldi's online wine store.

Between the six-litre Prosecco and the two-metre pig in blanket, this Christmas is going to be bigger than ever before, if Aldi's got anything to do with it.
