Luxury fashion brand Balenciaga has partnered with Crocs to release some gorgeous - albeit unusual - stiletto clogs this summer.

The shoes are exactly what they say on the tin and feature a classic Croc design with a pointed heel, which is guaranteed to turn more than a few heads!

While the price of the new collaboration is not yet known, it's safe to say that it will likely not come cheap, with the previous shoes from the company retailing for no less than $850.

The shoes proved to be so popular at the time that they sold out before they even went into stores.

Despite Crocs and Balenciaga seeming like an unusual pairing, the luxury brand has a lot of respect for the famously hated clog company.

In an interview with French Vogue in 2017, prior to their first collaboration, Balenciaga's creative director Demna Gvasalia said: "We were inspired by Crocs and we worked with them on a Balenciaga reinterpretation.

"Balenciaga x Crocs isn't impossible, the question of taste is a very subjective value. We'll see if this works in six months' time in the stores."

He also made a point of describing Crocs as the "world's comfiest shoes".

The latest Balenciaga-Croc stiletto collaboration, which is available in green and black, was introduced to the world in Balenciaga's Spring 2022 collection at the weekend.

It will also feature a knee-high boot that's available in various colors, but it will likely set you back a lot more than your average gumboot!

Despite Crocs being deemed unfashionable footwear by many, they have been slowly but surely growing in popularity this year.

BBC reports that the company's pre-tax profit grew from $18.7 million to $122.5 million between January and March, with the sales of the shoes increasing by 64% compared to the same quarter last year to $460 million.

Crocs' chief executive, Andrew Rees, said that he is hoping that Crocs will have 50% higher sales in 2021 compared to 2020.

"The pandemic has allowed us to reach new customers, but I think consumers are also focused on what we can offer them in the future," Rees told CNBC.

"Sandals is a large product category and the accessible market for us around sandals is about $30 billion globally."
