People have been urging this bride to divorce her husband after he committed a "red flag" prank while the pair were at the altar.

Now, we're all for a little joke but this man took things one step too far when he decided to conduct what he thought was a "harmless" little prank on his soon-to-be-wife while the two were supposed to say their vows.

A clip of the moment was posted to TikTok and then stitched by Shawnda, a life coach who gives Christians advice on dating, where she sent out a message to her followers.

In the video, the bride and groom are stood together while their guests watch them tie the knot. When the officiant gives the man the opportunity to read out his vows, he starts digging into his pocket to pull out a piece of paper.

However, rather than confessing his undying love for his partner - which is what people tend to do when they're standing at the altar - this man decided to open up the paper to reveal the words "Help Me," plastered across it in big, bold letters.

"You are the love of my life the most beautiful," he starts to read before he is interrupted by the bride who swats at him with her bouquet of flowers.

Her expression is sharp as she furrows her eyebrows at her man.

"I’m kidding, it’s a joke, it’s a joke," he says as only the woman behind the camera could be heard laughing while the rest of the guests start mumbling amongst themselves.

"It’s not funny," the bride adds, clearly unimpressed by this "prank."

Have a look at the video below:

Shawnda was just as unimpressed.

"What is it about a man, who is at the altar with the woman that he has proposed, right before he promises to love, honor, and cherish her, that makes him want to humiliate that woman?" she said in her video addressing the incident. "If he’s not wrestling that woman down to the ground for the ol’ cake smashing, if he’s not disrespecting her in the vows, he’s got some kind of prank or some kind of joke, some kind of way he has to humiliate this person for making him stand up and marry him."

She continued: "I have no respect for the kind of man that takes that day, that opportunity to get themself a cheap laugh, because that crowd was dry."

Shawnda then pointed out that this wasn't the time to beg for a chuckle at the expense of his fiancee.

"It’s no time for jokes, a 'Help Me!' sign? like she’s holding you hostage?" she said. "It wasn’t even worth it, the juice wasn’t even worth the squeeze, you humiliated this woman for what? So that the one girl holding the camera could get a little laugh?"

And it seems as though social media users agreed.

"Her face... she was crushed," wrote one user while another added: "Whyyyy do these people beg for a girl to go out with them, cry if she tries to leave, propose to her, spend a tons of money on a wedding then do this?"

A third even deemed this as a "red flag", writing: "If the joke is supposed to embarrass your partner in front of everyone they know, it's not a joke, it's a red flag."

Others urged the woman to take things further.

"Divorce. Asap," wrote one TikToker and this user agreed, writing: "I’d get a divorce IMMEDIATELY."

"He immediately turned away from her to face his intended audience. She better leave him," another pointed out.

Others also had a bone-to-pick with the woman recording: "Who’s taking the video? The laughing is a little too joyful."

"The camerawoman should be his wife," this savage social media user commented.
