In the age of "princess treatments" and podcasts, dating has become nothing more than a chore.

It was already pretty difficult navigating the ups and downs that come with second-guessing people's intentions or having to sit through hours of dry conversations, but now, there seems to be a whole new bunch of requirements that people are throwing out there that have overcomplicated what was supposed to be a fun way to find love.

One woman shocked the internet after she posted a 6-minute video of herself on a first date refusing to get out of the car after she was taken to an "embarrassing" restaurant.

The restaurant in question? The Cheesecake Factory.

In the video, which was shared to TikTok by Monique Santos, the woman could be seen tutting and scoffing as the man got out of his car to go and open her door.

"He's got me at The Cheesecake Factory," she tells the camera as she locks the door.

The man knocks on the window and she eventually winds it down to say: "This is The Cheesecake Factory. This is a chain restaurant. Who takes someone that looks like this to a chain restaurant?"

When the woman continues to hold her stance, he asks if she wants to talk about the issue before getting back into the vehicle.

"So, you expect a man to go all out on the first date, is that right?" he says to which she responds: "You're supposed to. When you take out a beautiful woman and you're courting her - because I get courted - you're supposed to take care of her, you're supposed to cover her, you're supposed to protect her, cherish her, treat her well, right?"

He agrees with her and says: "I went into the date with expectations for myself - to keep you safe, to respect you, to pay for your food, to pick you up - and just treat you like a gentleman [should]. Which I believe I have done."

Then he adds: "I, on the other hand, have certain expectations for a girl I go out with on a first date. I expect her to be respectful too, I expect her to be cooperative."

Have a look at the video below:

Things only get worse when the woman insists she hasn't been uncooperative in any way as her date lists a few of the things she did before even getting to the moment of refusal.

"I feel like I'm doing everything I'm supposed to do as a woman. I got myself all made up-"

"But there is nothing wrong with The Cheesecake Factory," the man interjects.

Not only that, he goes on to reveal that he had to wait an extra hour for her because she was late coming down to which she tries to justify herself claiming that the two were strangers and that he does not know her properly yet.

"That's why I'm saying," he agrees. "I'm thinking, okay, if we're not there in the relationship to meet at your apartment then maybe we're not ready in the relationship for such a nice, fancy restaurant - especially if I am paying for the whole thing."

The woman is seemingly unwavering however, as she questions: "Isn't there another restaurant you can call that is equivalent to that? You don't understand - look at me. I cannot go in The Cheesecake Factory. I will die. That's embarrassing."

But when the confused date replied with: "Maybe we are not right for each other so respectfully I'm going to just drop you off at home," the woman started getting more agitated.

"Oh no he didn't. So you just want to call it a night? Isn't there some kind of compromise or something? Ladies, can you believe this?"

Then after a bit more back and forth, she finally has a change of heart and offers the man her version of a compromise.

"I understand that I was late, I understand that. I understand that I could have been a bit more cooperative," she says before adding: "You made some good points. That's why I'm willing to compromise. Are you sure you want to go home?"

But by that time, he was totally done with the situation and doubled down on the fact that this date was over.

"I understand you gotta do what you gotta do," she says. "I understand where you're coming from."

The video has been viewed over 5.7 million times since it was posted, with thousands of social media users taking to the comments to voice their views about who was right in this situation.

"He’s right for doing that. He communicated properly, was respectful, and knows his worth. I also love the Cheesecake Factory... Lol," wrote one user while another added: "He seems so nice i would’ve been so hyped for the cheesecake factory."

A third questioned: "What's wrong with the cheesecake factory??"

Others also poked fun at the woman's outfit, wondering if it was worth being an hour late.

"Waiting an hour for a green dress and purple lipstick," wrote this user. "What wrong with the Cheesecake Factory tho."

"The lashes, the lipstick the outfit scream Applebees," this TikToker also said.

I mean, you gotta admit, that green with that purple is a wild combo.

Either way, we hope the man manages to find a date who's more grateful for his effort. Who wouldn't want cheesecake on the first date?
