Being a parent can be hard work - and it's never-ending and pretty expensive to boot.
So it's no wonder that many parents end up doing their grocery shopping with a little one - or two, or three - in tow, whether out of choice or necessity.
And while many kids are pretty well-behaved on a shopping trip, there are others that can make the experience less than enjoyable for their parents and strangers alike.
Brightyn (@brightynsletten), a fitness instructor, ended up being forced to apologize to her followers after she shared a rant about those parents who bring their offspring with them to Costco.
In the now-deleted TikTok video, Brightyn asked: "Why do we have to go to Costco with the whole family? Why are mom and dad and three frickin’ kids here?"
She captioned the clip: "Stop making Costco a family trip."
As for why people shouldn't bring their kids to Costco, she pointed out: "This place is crazy enough. I can’t imagine tracking three little kids around there. That seems like my own personal hell.”
Of course, Brightyn's hot take ended up ruffling a lot of feathers, so much so that she ended up deleting the original video.
She shared a follow-up apologizing to those she'd offended, telling them: "I’m sorry Costco families… I didn’t realize that Costco was such a sacred time for families, and I’m glad that families have their different ways of spending time [together]."
She added that while she'd had "bad experiences" with children in the store, it didn't mean "all families" shouldn't be allowed to shop together.
Her post left people divided, with some criticizing her for complaining about parents with kids.
They wrote: "You’re welcome to babysit my children so I can Costco shop by myself", and: "I take my children with me everywhere cause I’m like…. Their mom."
Others added: "No bc It’s just like…..are families expected to get a babysitter to go to Costco??" and: "my husband and I take our kids EVERYWHERE. They're our kids. That's how they learn valuable life skills."
Another commented: "I literally take my 2 year old to Costco to run as fast as she can down the isles, we try to only go on empty ones but…. She loves Costco, let her live."

Others defended Brightyn, writing: "Girl I feel you. I worked briefly at Costco and people w/ kids treat it like it's A. a playground or B. Like it's a whole field trip and everything needs to be gawked at with 8 kids & 3 relatives."
Another commented: "I am a mom and I agree with you. I don’t understand why the whole family needs to shop together also."
Viewers also added: "I leave my family at home lol that’s my alone time," and: "Girl, respectfully, I’m with u. It’s [obnoxious] when they’re in large groups. Especially when there’s 2 parents, one couldn’t stay home or wait in the car with the kids?"
Someone suggested taking it even further, adding: "Listen I get what you were saying though because Costco is so crowded that sometimes i feel like 'why are we going in pairs?! We should only allow one person per household!' Lmao."

One pointed out: "Even as a mom I get overwhelmed with people letting their kids go wild in public, but sometimes it’s my own, and errands still need to happen, they’re still learning how to act in public!"
Another added: "I’m a single mom so my kids come everywhere with me especially the grocery store and I promise you as much as you’re annoyed so are we. Grocery shopping w kids is hard but we’re parents."
