Parents have been left furious after a restaurant gave those it deemed to have engaged in "bad parenting" an extra charge.

Having kids isn't for everyone because it usually brings with it a lot of work - but should being a parent mean you can't enjoy the things that you used to?

It's perfectly acceptable to take a child to a restaurant for something to eat, but on the flip side, a lot of us will have been in an eatery while a kid is causing havoc.

But then how do you teach kids about restaurant etiquette without taking them to one?

Well, one establishment has a way of monetizing unruly kids while scolding what they deem "bad parenting".

The menu of the restaurant was shared on Reddit and it clearly states: "Adult surcharge: For adults unable to parent".

Bizarrely, there isn't an amount listed - so I guess it's down to the staff to determine how unruly the kids have been and charge what they think is fitting.

Don't get me wrong, I like enjoying a meal without having messy, screaming kids disrupting me - but this menu is packed with red flags that do raise eyebrows.

The menu also states that a 20 percent charge will be added if a group of six or above decides to pay using separate checks.

If you decide that you want to share a dessert, like many people do after a filling meal - well, that will come with a further $3 charge.

All of the prices on the menu reflect a "cash price", so if you want to pay by card, be prepared for an extra 3.5 percent added to your final total.

It also clearly states that customers must be respectful at all times or they won't receive any service.

So what did Redditors have to say about this?

"The owner came out and told me he was adding $50 to my bill because of my children’s behavior. My kids watched a tablet until the food arrived, ate their food and my wife took them outside while I waited and paid the bill. Pretty sure the owner is doing drugs in the back. Disappointed by the experience," one person cited from a Google review.

A second read: "If you have children, absolutely avoid this place at all costs. Holy moly - the most disrespectful owner made a huge scene in front of the entire restaurant because our children were 'running through the restaurant' - they were down by the river.. we were told we need to 'go to Burger King and Walmart' and that we were bad parents.

"They have a $50 surcharge for 'bad children'. We were a group of 21 and our server was AMAZING and was overly apologetic. Terrible business practice, we will never be back."

One person appeared to think the restaurant was onto something, as they wrote: "I've been out eating more than once where parents were literally letting their kids wild. Not sure if this is the answer, but something definitely should be done about such parents."

If anyone needs the password to this restaurant's wifi, it's "sillybeans".
