Over the weekend, Fox Weather meteorologist Stephen Morgan and NBC News anchor Steven Romo tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Texas, multiple news outlets have reported.
Speaking to People this week following the ceremony, Romo stated: "Standing up there in front of people I love most in the world, it was so important for me to capture what it's meant for me to find Stephen. It is something I truly never thought was possible."
His new groom added: "He doesn't want to live without me. And I can't imagine living without him."
The pair announced their engagement as well as both coming out as gay via Instagram in July 2021. Both used the same image, with Romo's caption reading: "I grew up with secrets. My family fought together to hide that we lived in a house full of garbage with a horde of dogs. But what they didn't know, and was arguably even more difficult, was that I had a secret to carry all on my own: I was gay and trying with all my heart not to be."
"Before I met Stephen Morgan, I thought maybe this kind of love just wasn't in the cards for me. That it was a journey I'd never take. But now I'm the happiest I've ever been. In my whole life. And I'll soon be moving to New York City with the person I want to spend the rest of my life with," he added.
Morgan's caption was just as heartfelt. "I never dreamed of uttering the words 'I'm engaged,' but I also never dreamed of being so happy. Yet here we are. I'm engaged. I'm going to marry Steven Romo," he wrote.
"Growing up, I learned God is love and makes no mistakes. I learned that humans are created in His image. I learned that through our trials, tribulations, and temptations God will be the ultimate judge. God knew a 10-year-old could never keep a secret. Funny. Because I don’t want to keep this a secret any longer," Morgan's caption concluded.
The couple's ceremony took place on White Rock Lake, Dallas, in front of 125 guests. Paying homage to Romo's Latino heritage, guests dined on beef empanadas and chicken chimichangas to start, before digging into pork tenderloin and potatoes, People detailed.
Following the ceremony, Morgan told the publication: "I'm looking forward to being able to call each other husband! We're also planning to adopt not one, but two dogs."
Romo chimed in: "I'm looking forward to a honeymoon. Hopefully during the winter we can get a break from the cold and go somewhere warm [...] I'm just looking forward to building my life with Stephen. I thought I had life pretty well figured out and that there were no surprises in store [before I met him], but I'm so glad I was wrong!"
