A young boy who asked Santa if God would still love him if he is gay has received an outpouring of support on social media this week.

Per the Daily Mail, the letter in question was intercepted by USPS's Operation Santa - an awareness-raising initiative that takes letters to Santa and shares them on social media in a bid to grant the festive wishes of children in need.

Take a look at this incredible footage of two gay men proposing to each other at the same time:

The letter comes from a boy by the name of Will, who wrote to Father Christmas:

"Dear Santa, do you support the LGBT community and if [so] can you can you speak to god can you tell him I love him and if he loves me for being gay. Thank you, love Will."

A screenshot of Will's letter was later shared on social media by a Twitter user called Nancy. Speaking to her 45,600 followers, she captioned her post: "This letter to Santa broke my heart."

In a series of follow-up tweets, Nancy also added:

"God loves us all. Idgaf what any church/religion tries to tell you... I mean this in the most respectful way. I just will always feel that God’s love for us is so big & powerful that there’s no way, even at our worst, that He won’t love us. [sic]"

Suffice to say, Nancy's post picked up a lot of attention on Twitter and has received more than 200,000 likes and 27,300 shares as of the time of writing.

Will's letter has also been met with an outpouring of support and well-wishing from more than 390 commenters, who wanted to show their appreciation for him.

For instance, one Twitter user wrote: "Who do I have to fight for this little one? I came here to fight. I am in shambles."

Meanwhile, someone else chimed in: "That is the most heartbreaking thing. And the worst part is that if this kid is asking this, then there is a huge chance they might not be receiving the love they need."

Will, if you're reading this right now, then please know that God loves you just the way you are.
