An erotica writer has been in hospital for two weeks with a painful and life-threatening erection after he injected an "enhancement" drug into his manhood. Now that he is facing a possible amputation of his penis, he wants to warn others of the condition.

Danny Polaris, from Swansea, Wales, has been suffering from priapism - an erection that will not go down that can be agonizing - after taking the drug, along with Viagra, following a late-night fling with a nurse, Pink News has reported.

Speaking to Pink News, Polaris said: "I thought, why not, what could possibly go wrong? It’s one of the worst decisions of my life."

Despite being in severe pain, Polaris decided to stick to his original plans and attended Berlin Pride with a wine cooler wrapped around his erect member.

After being admitted to hospital, doctors attempted to relieve Danny's erection by pushing a plastic nail down his urethra without anesthetic - an experience which Polaris says was "ten out of ten on the pain scale" - but sadly, the extreme treatment did not work.

Next, the desperate doctors sent Polaris into emergency surgery, and attempted to draw blood away from Danny's manhood by removing a vein from his leg. But once again, this did not work, and Polaris still has his erection after two weeks and remains in hospital, hooked up to a blood thinner, the Daily Mail reports.

The writer and jazz singer has revealed his penis is most likely to be permanently damaged, and may even have to be amputated:

"Some days I wake up and I just cry about how stupid I was, about what I’ve lost, about what’s going to happen to me. Sex is very important to me. I’m a sex writer, I write erotica and edit erotica. I need all the help I can get.

"I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future… will I have sex again?"

Danny's friends have since started a GoFundMe page in an effort to help the "brave" singer cover his costs during and after surgery. The page states:

"Danny has been suffering with a potentially life-threatening priapism for more than 10 days. He has been in a lot of pain, last week he lost a lot of blood and may have been close to death. He is being brave, focused and is a survivor! But however positive he's trying to be, he's also traumatised and often crying with extreme stress and anxiety. [...]

"His aim is to raise awareness about Priapism; A misunderstood, painful and dangerous condition that is affecting the gay/queer community increasingly more each year. [...]

"It's uncertain whether he'll have another natural erection ever again. Doctors give him less than 50% odds. [...]

"It's likely that his penis is now permanently damaged. [...] We are unsure how far his insurance will take him. Especially regarding aftercare and rehabilitation. He's also in a financial black hole from missing out on freelance writing work and performance work. [...]

"He will need counselling/psychotherapy, alternative therapies and further operations in the future for reconstructive surgery. This fundraiser is for things to make Danny more comfortable, like a mobile phone (he had his basic Nokia phone stolen at Berlin CSD), drinks, snacks and alternative therapies like reiki and acupuncture to aid healing and for travel costs and passport renewal costs for his parents in case they need to come to Berlin to help him when he leaves hospital. [sic]"

As of this writing, €524 has been raised of the €5,000 target.

Danny is now warning others about enhancement drugs:

"My advice to anyone with a penis is be careful when you take Viagra and don’t let anyone come near your c**k with an injection because it’s not worth it."
