A man who won the $50 million jackpot in a recent lottery draw revealed that he went to work at the crack of dawn the following morning despite being rich beyond his wildest dreams.

Most of us dream of one day winning the lottery, instantly quitting our jobs, and living the high life forever more, jetting off to sunnier climes to let our hair down without any financial worries for the rest of our lives.

Going back to work - even for a day or two - would probably not be high on many jackpot winners lists, but a humble man from Montreal, Canada, has said he will continue going to work for at least a month more.

Pierre Richer, who is in his 60s managed to scoop a huge $50 million win on the Lotto Max jackpot - but still got uo at 4:30AM to go to work the following day so as not to leave his colleagues in the lurch.

Pierre - whose surname is now very fitting for his financial status - got the news that he'd won on October 6, and revealed his very casual reaction to finding out that he was rich beyond his imagination.

He revealed that his girlfriend had told him about the life-changing win, adding: "I just said okay, and I walked out."

Pierre revealed: "I'm still the same, I haven't changed. Now I know I've won the money but my body doesn't feel any different."

The Quebec-based driver and head of shipping at a catering company also revealed why he chose to get up and go to work the following day despite having no need for his paycheck anymore.

While most of us would have been sunning ourselves on a yacht by now, Pierre revealed he's not even handing in his notice for the time being, explaining: "For a little while, not for long, but I'll give it at least a month and see what I'm going to do.

"I just can’t leave them alone in the dark. Without me there, the shipping department is not feasible."

What a legend.

Pierre also revealed that he had been playing the lottery for around 30 years before his win, and hadn't actually intended to buy a ticket for that particular draw.

In fact, it was only by chance that he ended up at the Super C store that day because he had taken his daughter there to pick up some cut-price pie crust ahead of Thanksgiving.

He explained: "With the pie crust being on sale at the Super C, my daughter went in to get it and I got the ticket. So without the pie crust being on sale I wouldn't have went to Super C."

As for what he is planning to spend his winnings on, Pierre is looking to treat himself to buying a new home and a new car, with CTV News reporting that his dream is to "mow the lawn" at his new property, as well as looking after his family financially.
