A bride was the victim of a prank by her new husband on their wedding day and people are not happy with his behavior, with some even suggesting an immediate divorce.

Getting married is a huge moment in anyone's life as a couple prepares to settle down for a life together and live happily ever after.

Though it would appear that not every story has the same impact as a classic fairytale because a wedding day can clearly go horribly wrong.

Playful pranks in a relationship can keep that spark alive but sometimes they can get taken a bit too far, as one unlucky bride found out on her wedding day.

The unfortunate incident was uploaded to TikTok by @viralsnare, which is an account that specializes in showing practical jokes.

The footage shows a couple dressed in their wedding finery heading towards a pool, clearly about the jump in together - which I suppose could be a metaphor for jumping into marriage together.

But at the last moment, the devious groom aborts the mission and leaves his bride to jump into the pool in her wedding dress all by herself...

It's unclear how the bride reacted, but she appeared to be smiling as she swam around the pool as the wedding guests laugh at the prank.

Despite it coming across as quite a lighthearted prank, some people have not taken kindly to it and even encouraged the woman to leave her new husband.

One person commented: "That’s not a prank that’s an immediate annulment," and a second added: "Turning a cute moment to an embarrassing one for your spouse is a great way to start a marriage."

A third person said: "Nah she saw red flags put up with ignored it and hoped marriage would make things better She ain’t leaving. She said sign me up," while a fourth bluntly stated: "divorce him. now."

Another comment offered the theory that the bride owned the wedding dress whereas the suit that the groom was wearing was rented... so getting it wet probably isn't the best idea.

Whatever the reasons, we hope that the newlyweds were able to laugh it all off!
