A bride has said that she wants to divorce her new husband a day after they got married after a wedding cake prank he pulled backfired.
Getting married is a huge occasion, and it's fair to assume that most people going through the big day know a lot about their partner's character.
So it would also be fair to assume that you'd how your future husband or wife would react to a prank on the wedding day.
Well, a bride took to Slate's Dear Prudence advice column last year to lay out the scenario that led to her sudden decision to end her marriage a day after it took place.
She started by explaining her perspective, saying, "I got married just before Christmas and am hoping to be divorced or annulled by the end of January."

Although marriage wasn't a top priority for her, she agreed to her boyfriend's 2020 proposal and together they began planning their wedding. She highlighted that both partners shared the responsibilities of organizing the event and made compromises for each other.
She detailed that there was only one "hard-and-fast rule" she had set for the wedding: her groom was not to "rub cake in [her] face at the reception."
The husband clearly didn't want to adhere to his bride-to-be's rules, so rather than taking note, he forcefully pushed her head into the wedding cake.

The bride elaborated, "Instead, he grabbed me by the back of the head and shoved my head down into it. It was planned since the cake was DESTROYED, and he had a bunch of cupcakes as a backup.”
This unexpected act prompted the bride to reassess her relationship, leading her to announce the end of their marriage a day later. However, her decision has been met with mixed reactions from those around her, with some urging her to give her new husband a second chance, attributing her response to personal issues.
Explaining her reasons, the bride shared, "I am VERY claustrophobic after a car accident years ago, and I absolutely panicked at being shoved into a cake and held there." She expressed uncertainty due to the overwhelming support from those who believe she might be overreacting.
In response to the dilemma, Prudence, the columnist, advised the bride to trust her own judgment, emphasizing that the husband's actions were a "red flag" and a sign of disrespect towards her wishes. "Make a mental note about which of your loved ones don’t seem to value your happiness, and continue with your divorce," Prudence advised.
This story also gained traction on Reddit's Wedding Shaming forum, where users rallied behind the bride's decision.
"He ruined the wedding for her. Why would you stay with someone willing to ruin what should be one of the happiest days of your life! He couldn't possibly have thought she would be okay with it," one user commented.
A second added: "Not only did he go against her wishes, he spent time and money planning a way to do it in the most humiliating way possible. No, she is not overreacting."

It would appear that what the groom thought was a harmless prank has cost him his wife... perhaps he should have listened.
