Anna Farris opens up on her relationship with 'amazing' Chris Pratt
The word 'divorce' stinks of heartbreak, painful legal proceedings, and all round nasty feeling - but Anna Faris and Chris Pratt have seemingly managed to avoid all of this.
The former Hollywood couple continually prove that your relationship with your ex doesn't have to be unpleasant - something that was once again confirmed by Anna's comments this week.
Opening up about her friendship with the Guardians of the Galaxy star during a recent appearance on the Divorce Sucks podcast, she named Chris "so sweet" and "an amazing person".
"We are so good and respectful towards each other," she said. "And I think that there is so much kindness and love."
The actress continued to admit that, despite the goodwill between the pair, the split was hard on her, saying: "It is very difficult to be completely separate from somebody you have spent so much emotional investment with. I had two 10-year relationships back to back so how do you emotionally leave that person behind? That’s a tricky thing to grapple with."
Here's Anna Faris and Chris Pratt, shortly before their split in early 2018:
When later asked if she would get married again, the House Bunny star cast doubt on the idea, stating: "I will say I believe in love and monogamy and I believe in the commitment with a relationship... I do struggle, having gone through it a couple of times now, with the idea of our legal system just making... I struggle with that on a feminist level."
She went on to admit that she’s "not crazy about weddings" - so it's probably safe to say that we won't see her getting married to boyfriend Michael Barrett anytime soon.
It's not the first time the 42-year-old has spoken out about Chris. In the past, she has expressed her happiness for him and his fiancée, Katherine Schwarzenegger, even reminding them that she's an ordained minister and offering to marry them.
On her podcast, Unqualified, she revealed that Chris had messaged her about the proposal before the announcement, the morning after he had popped the big question, stating: "Chris texted me this morning and he was like, 'I proposed to Katherine last night.' And I was like, 'Ahh, that’s amazing'. And I texted him back like, 'I just wanted to remind you I’m an ordained minister.'"
She added: "I’m so happy for them. I knew that it was gonna happen and I love her and I love him and I’m just so happy that they found each other."
On the same podcast, she also spoke about what it was like going through the break-up and sharing custody of their son, Jack.
"Chris and I work really hard ‘cause we have Jack, that is sort of the long game idea and making sure Jack is really happy, which makes us really happy," she explained. "We have sort of the luxury of circumstance. You know, we are both in other loving relationships. … But it’s like, how do you not in general sink into a place of bitterness?"
She continued: "I do want to reiterate though that I f**king acknowledge - we all do, everyone acknowledges - that there is bitterness and pain with all breakups and that hopefully makes us human. But the long game is just the worst, being the bigger person. It just is. It f***ing sucks until, then when it happens though, is that everyone’s happy."
It sure sounds like they're nailing this whole divorce thing - Anna and Chris, you're an inspiration to us all!
