Getting married to someone can be pretty daunting for the groom, namely because of the bride's father. Any fathers out there reading these words will understand perfectly how important it is to be protective of your daughter.

Indeed, it can sometimes be hard to trust another man to love and care for her the way you know she deserves, and sometimes this means that dads can become a little ... scary. So, with that in mind, it's easy to see why plenty of newly-engaged men would rather wrangle a grizzly bear than confront their father-in-law.

Just picture how much more difficult it must be to try and marry the daughter of action movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger. Even as an older guy Arnie is still totally shredded, and would probably rip you in half if you ever gave him a good reason. This is the dude who shrugged off five shotgun shells to the face in Terminator, and personally mud-wrestled a giant alien in Predator.

Going off this, Chris Pratt must have had brass balls to summon the courage to ask his daughter Katherine to marry him.

The two had been rumoured to be dating for some time, and were often spotted out together by the paparazzi. Then, on Katherine Schwarzenegger's 29th birthday, the actor made it official by sharing some of his favourite photos of himself and Schwarzenegger on Instagram and Twitter.

He captioned the cute collage: "Happy Birthday Chief! Your smile lights up the room. I’ve cherished our time together. Thrilled God put you in my life. Thankful for the laughs, kisses, talks, hikes, love and care."

Not long after that, the couple took to social media to announce they were engaged. How cute!

But as it turns out, Chris was pretty nervous when it came to asking her dad's permission. In a recent interview with Extra, Pratt stated: "Well, you know, I think any person who appreciates a tradition and asks a father for his daughter’s hand in marriage…it's inevitably going to be something that makes you a little nervous, but that's sort of the beauty of it, you know?"

It sounds as though he needn't have worried though. In an earlier interview with the same publication, Arnold was gushing when it came to the subject of his new son-in-law, stating: "[Asking me permission] was really fantastic. She is so happy, they both are so happy. As I said to him, he is such a likeable guy. I love Chris — he’s fantastic. He’s a wonderful guy. They both look really great together, they’re both happy together, so I wish them both the best of luck."

Awwww; I just can't wait for the day that these two become part of the same big family!
