It takes a lot of strength and personal growth to be able to be friends with an ex-partner. Many people will feel an intense sensation of rejection after a breakup, and never want to go back to being platonic.

But some people are able to rise above this bitterness, and wish their ex all the best in their life and future relationships. One person who embodies this positive attitude is Lenny Kravitz.

The musician broke up with his wife Lisa Bonet, whom he married at a Las Vegas ceremony in 1987, in 1993. Their divorce was an amicable one, and when Bonet hooked up with Game of Thrones and Aquaman star, Jason Momoa, Kravitz was nothing if not gracious about it.

Commenting on their close friendship in a recent interview with The Times, Kravitz stated: "You go through a marriage with somebody, you break up and it’s very difficult. But [Lisa and I] put the work in and we took the time so that we could become best friends again. Our families are blended. I love her husband [the actor Jason Momoa] – he’s like a brother to me – and I love the kids. It’s beautiful, but it takes work."

He also opened up about the importance of his grandfather as an inspirational figure, stating: "When he was nine, his father passed away and my grandfather had to become the man of the house, providing for his mother, who was bedridden, and his four brothers and sisters."

He added: "When he was 17, my mother was born. In New York, he worked four or five jobs at a time to provide for his family. My grandfather had this vision for himself and his family. We’re here because of him."

However, it's easy to see why Kravitz finds it so easy to be nice to Jason: he's just such a cool guy that you can't help but root for him.
