Men and women agree on what is the biggest bedroom turn off
Bringing a new partner home is always a big moment. Letting them into your personal space can feel very daunting, and the fear of them judging your interior or belongings is very real.
While you have hopefully tidied up for the occasion, it’s impossible not to panic about what you might have left on display as you arrive home.
Other than being dirty, what are the biggest red flags in a potential partner’s pad?
A new survey asked 2000 single people what would be the biggest turn-offs when entering someone else's home for the first time.
It may surprise you that the biggest item of contention was the same for both men and women.
What is the biggest red flag for men and women?
Over half of women claim that nude posters or pornography on display would be the most unacceptable interior.
While men agreed that they did not want to see more than one naked person in their new love interest’s bedroom, only 22% put it as the biggest red flag.
The research by Perfect Home concluded that the top three turn-offs for women are, understandably, dirty rooms and clothes or mess on the floor.
Whereas men reported teddy bears and posters to be the items most likely to send them running.
The worst offenders are posters that have cringey inspirational quotes, such as “live, laugh, love” emblazoned on them.
Anything else, such as cushions with similar messages, should also be avoided if you want the romance to continue, as these were dubbed by participants as “tacky”.
One man said: "I don't like textured wallpaper or signs telling me what to do in each room e.g., 'relax', 'bathe', 'sleep'."
Are your interiors that important to securing another date?
Around ten percent of those surveyed said that the style of the room would have a significant effect on whether they would see their date again.
A portion of the women who partook said that fantasy or science fiction toys, such as Star Wars or Harry Potter memorabilia, would be a turn-off. As would an excessive amount of football merch.
In contrast, men said they would be put off by sex toys such as dildos being left in plain sight.
