It's every parent's nightmare: spotting what seems to be a ghostly apparition in close proximity to your bundle of joy. This is exactly what happened to Facebook user, Maritza Elizabeth, but luckily, the truth transpired to be much more hilarious.

When Maritza checked the baby monitor during a nightly check, she thought she saw a ghost baby lying next to her son, however, she quickly discovered that it was merely an optical illusion that her husband was responsible for.

As it happened, her husband had simply forgotten to put a mattress protector on, meaning that a promotional image of a baby could be seen on the monitor later on.

"So last night I was positive there was a ghost baby in the bed with my son. I was so freaked out, I barely slept," the mother shared on Facebook earlier this week. "I even tried creeping in there with a flashlight while my son was sleeping. Well, this morning I go to investigate a bit further. It turns out my husband just forgot to put the mattress protector on when he changed the sheets ?? I could kill him."

Naturally, the people found the incident hilarious. "This is SO funny ?? I can't stop laughing lmao [sic]," wrote one Facebook user, while another corroborated "um...yeah I’d be freaking the f out [sic]".
