A video showing the moment a loving husband shaved off his own hair to show solidarity with his cancer-stricken wife has gone viral on social media.
Back in January 2021, Rebecca Fuentes announced to her friends and family on social media that she had been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma - an uncommon form of cancer that affects the lymphatic system.
Throughout her treatment, Fuentes would share updates on her Instagram page in order to raise awareness of the disease - including the day she opted to shave her head in March last year.
At the time, she only shared a photo showing her husband, Omar, kissing her on the head. She captioned the heartwrenching post: "Today was the day I have been dreading since I heard the evil C word. I knew it was time and cried about it, but Omar and the kids were there to give me all the hugs and kisses to cheer me up."
But then she revealed: "After he was done with mine, Omar surprised me and immediately started to shave his own head. Even though this process is sad and scary, this will forever be one of my favorite pictures because it reminds me of how much he loves me."
Now, she has shared footage of the incredible moment. And I'll warn you now; you're going to need tissues.
Taking to TikTok (@rebeccafuentes4) to share the heartwarming moment, Fuentes wrote: "I’ve never shared this video. It was a year ago today I shaved my head. So many feelings flood back watching this. The way my sweet girl was holding me just makes me cry. I was so shocked my sweet husband shaved his too."
Check out the video below:In the clip, Rebecca's daughter can be seen holding her mom's hand, as Omar finishes off shaving her head. Then, much to her surprise, he turns the clippers on his own head.
In a version of the video without background music, Rebecca tells Omar: "Oh my god, you don't have to do that."
The mom then starts to cry as she watches her husband shave his head completely bald.
The original video amassed more than 1.1 million views and over 5,900 comments, with people praising Omar for being such an amazing husband:
In more amazing news, Rebecca announced on social media that she was declared cancer-free on August 6 and is now in remission and regrowing her hair.
