A weather forecaster who has been working from home amid the coronavirus pandemic has embraced frequent interruptions by his needy cat in the middle of his network's broadcasts.
Viewers of 14 News have been treated to Jeff Lyons's entertaining weather segments in which he presents alongside his pet cat, Betty.
Rather than get cross with his attention-seeking feline, he often interacts with her, holds her up and even makes direct references to the fact that she has gone viral.
Check out the moment the weather forecaster was interrupted by his cat amid the coronavirus lockdown:Posting the above video to Facebook, Lyons shared with his followers in the accompanying caption:
"So, Betty is now viral on the Internet ! I've had a lot of requests for the video, so here is the behind-the-scenes (thanks to Jackie Monroe at the studio) and then what went over the air. As you can see, Betty needs to be limbered up before showtime ! What should our next stunt be ?"
Needless to say, plenty of people have been gushing over the naughty cat, with one commenter writing: "Betty is beautiful and sweet! I love cats! She needs to be your weather mascot!"
Another wrote: "My new favorite weather guy ... and I don't even live anywhere near the area (from NJ) but how can anyone not love Betty."
A third said: "Love the sense of humor along with your keeping us informed on the weather Jeff..Thanks!"

In a later post, Lyons said of his newly famous kitty: "Even with all of your kind comments, Betty doesn't seem to be handling her new-found fame very well ! Of course, she's 10 years old, so can be a little crabby when I put her out of her comfort zone...but then again, aren't we all ?"
