Many people assume that you can't eat too much at an 'all-you-can-eat' buffet. But it turns out - in some establishments - there is a limit to how much food you're allowed to put away.
One TikToker says she learned this the hard way when a restaurant charged her double because proprietors believed she'd eaten too much.
Poppy - who goes by @poppypaints on the social media platform - shared the awkward experience in a video to her followers.
The clip begins by responding to another video, asking for people to share their experiences of being fat-shamed.
"Tell me the wildest way you have ever been fat-shamed," the video asks. UK-based painter Poppy responded by revealing what happened to her when she went out for a meal at an 'all you can eat' buffet.
"I once went to an all you can eat buffet, and when the bill came, I noticed they’d charged me twice," she said.
Check out Poppy's video below:"I questioned it and asked why, and they said I’d eaten too much," the TikToker explained.
Clearly, Poppy saw the funny side to the story as she struggled to keep back her laughs while she recounted it to her followers. And it seemed other people loved the story too, as her video has racked up over 77,000 views and over a hundred comments, as of this writing.
One user was eager to know whether Poppy paid the extra, writing: "Please tell me you didn’t pay!"
To their relief, Poppy explained that she did not pay double, responding: "No I argued and only paid the one flat rate."
Meanwhile, others were outraged that the restaurant had accused her of eating "too much" at an all-you-can-eat buffet.
"That doesn’t make sense… it’s all you CAN EAT," wrote one, while another agreed: "It’s literally in the name ‘all you can eat’ hahaha jeeze people are mental."
"So it’s 'eat as much as we say' not 'eat as much as you want' I need to keep this in mind for future reference! So rude of the restaurant," a third person chimed in.
"Looks like the restaurant doesn't get the concept," joked a fourth.
