A woman says she changed from a crop top into an oversized sweatshirt at the gym after being told that a man had been secretly taking pictures of her.

Stephanie, 22, shared the unfortunate story earlier this year with her more than 16,000 TikTok followers.

In the video, which has since racked up more than two million views, Stephanie urges her followers to "please be safe out here, ladies."

She adds: "I would have never thought this would ever happen to me but it did."

The clip starts off with the young woman filming her reflection in the mirror at the gym to show her followers what she had initially worn to work out in: a crop top and a pair of cycle shorts.

In the next frame, Stephanie is covered up in a large sweatshirt, with the gym-goer revealing she had to change outfits due to an uncomfortable incident that had taken place moments earlier.

Next, she is heard telling staff at the gym that when she headed to the bathroom, she was informed by a female stranger and fellow gym-goer that a man in an orange sweater had been taking pictures of her from behind.

Meanwhile, in the video's text overlay, Stephanie wrote that she has "never had this happen to [her] before," but that she's "always seen TikToks [about] it and admired girls who could confront guys who would take pictures of them".

She went on to tell staff that she was "scared", and then began to break down in tears.

"I was so in shock that I didn’t even know what to do and was so uncomfortable I started crying, also because I’m very shy and knew I wouldn’t be able to confront him myself," Stephanie told her followers.

"It just sucks that I can’t feel confident anymore in a place that was comfortable for me because guys can’t respect women who are trying to work on themselves and minding their business."

Fortunately, a sympathetic employee then assured her that they would confront the individual and ensure the photos are deleted.

"If he took a picture, we need to get his phone and delete it, so I’m going to talk to our manager right now," one staff member is heard telling Stephanie.

In the concluding text overlay, Stephanie reiterates how important it is for women to keep "safe out here and be observant".
